Arlo: Son, the things you describe are things most young couples experience.
Arlo: You're two individuals! There'll be differences and misunderstandings!
Arlo: Eventually, you learn to tune it all out!
Arlo: After discussing it a whole lot, of course.

somethings you do want resolved before you get too deep in a relationship like having kids, their religious up bringing, finances, things that can lead to big trouble own the road. if Gene can’t be himself around Mary Lou any more and has to walk on egg shells that should be a deal breaker. still feel the ball is in ML’s court and she should make a move if she is still interested in a relationship with him.

She is trying to change him too much, that is a deal breaker in any relationship, if you change or try to change the person you love they will no longer be the person you fell in love WITH. Eventually you will grow more alike. My hubby and I have been together 15 years and as of next month Married 13!

I agree with Paul. It seems to me that the problems that Gene has brought up are too deep seated to be resolved by even a bunch of discussion. (Geez, I’m worrying about this as though it’s real!)

My mom always gave me this good advice, “You can not change another person, you can only change yourself.” and “To love others as you love yourself, you have to love yourself first.”

I married at age 49 years 9 months—first marriage for me and 2nd for my wife. We are coming up on a dozen years of marriage. The biggest advantage to our relationship (besides our Christian commitment to the sanctity of the marriage covenant) is that we are both of an age to know how few things are worth getting all bent out of shape.
