Uh… not to derail the idealism here, but the people you’re trying to save are the ones trying to condemn you and everyone you know and love to a fate worse than death. I’m all for forgiveness, but this seems like a bad plan…
Poor Holly. I can’t blame her outburst here. The one she loves is about to walk into a room unarmed against an armed and psychotic woman who’s already on a suicide run. She’s going to have some serious PTSD by the time she’s done with this mission. :(
BTW I’m still with Jenner on the bashing Flask’s skull in with Aaron Marx’s bleeding severed head idea. See, Wally? You don’t have to be unarmed! Your weapon could be sitting right next to you, reading a book.
i dont know if shes worried about flask killing him if he goes unarmed or probably is the fact she doesnt want wally to kill flask because of what it could do to him
even molly is having a hard time when thinking about saving the topsiders she probably didnt forget they put a satelite up there to find Endtown and nuke them as soon as posible
There you go, then. Just use the dittos like they were used against the topsiders before. Make Flask believe that she’s killed off the topsiders, then head on home.
I know this is “just” a comic strip, but we’ve seen incredible emotions stirred up before, so I feel the need to ask a question. Is this scenario starting to bring back memories of Sept 11 to anyone else? I know the parallel is sketchy, but the big picture has a familiar ring. I don’t know, maybe it’s just me, but I felt compelled to ask.
I still go for the idea of this being a psychological experiment with everything they see being an illusion. If the ship picks up transporters without orders from the captain, shouldn’t there be a bunch of topsiders around.
The heart of every conflict: who is Us? Who is Them? Where do you draw The Line? SHOULD you draw a line? In the end, is it always a value judgment and not an objective one? Heady, heavy questions… and thus a good strip that makes us face them. Kudos to Aaron!
I’m afraid, Wally, that you can’t unilaterally declare peace. It’s not going to end until the topsiders no longer try to kill everybody else. That would require a change of heart of their part or their elimination. I have to agree with Flask here. I admire her willingness to take the responsibility on to herself.
I’m just hoping there is at least a possibility that AM will grow out of his dickishness one of these days. Because right now, he needs a good kicking as much as Flask does.

Did A M not draw a weapon out of thin air at the dinner table and offer it to Wally, a few weeks ago?

Thank you for the info. My memory fades sometimes.

Panel 4: Holly’s face: INTENSE! Masterful capture of emotion! That is one of the most palpable displays of feeling I’ve ever seen depicted.

Brilliant emotions. And I just realised why I noted the book. It’s Marx’ face in panel #2. Does he seem concerned?

No Holly the correct argument would be, “Why, they’re trying to exterminate us!”

She certainly won’t listen to reason, being psychotic at the moment, but Wally HAS used his fists in a fight before! You have to do SOMETHING!

Lets see, an unarmed engineer with some paramilitary experience vs a psychotic rocket scientist with a big gun…. Should be a pretty fair fight.
