This is a really cute comic strip which I enjoy but the smart-alecky remarks, especially those of Opal, begin to wear thin. Do we ever see any affection between them (I am fairly new to the strip) or just a comfort zone settled into after long years together? ~ Do I hear Earl saying: C’est la vie!

@Sherbert, how old are you? How long have you been married, if you are?

We’ve been married 40 years and this is the way it is. :LOL: My wife loves Opal.

“Joie de vivre”? is often used in English to express a cheerful enjoyment of life; an exultation of spirit.

Poor Earl. I’ve used the same sort of excuses with the same results.

What violence? Does anyone honestly think she really would kick him? That is just the way they have of interacting with each other.It can also be a sign of affection that they have developed over the years.

Yikes! Bend over? Just wait until his inner fire sparks a chain re-action.

Opal should give Earl a swift kick in the rear! Just call him the “inertia man”. I contend with this daily.

Because men are PERFECT at from the cradle to the grave.

I don’t think a husband living with a hateful, abusive wife is funny… Opal is mean, not funny.
