The other day (and this happens more often than I care for), I was approaching my porch only to find a skunk sauntering across it. I gave it a wide berth, and it left me alone. Once it brought its babies. What do they see in my porch?
Before we were married my wife and I were sitting in a backyard swing after dark. Something black strolled by. I asked “what was that?” answer “that’s Midnight” (her cat). Me: “well, whats that on the porch then?”. Yep, skunk. But no harm done. Could have reached down and petted it.
Caught a few of these things trapping when I worked on the mainland, had to get ‘em quick or else…. Thankfully there are none here on the island tough I’ve found a few washed up on the beach.

Skunks don’t like to spray..they give warning first. If a dog gets it full on like Kenny just did, they can die.

Aw, poor Kenny. No dog deserves that. Even stup . . . er . . . um . . . mentally challenged ones.

And soon Kenny’s fur will be as red as his eyes. Better to smell tomatoee than skunky.

I had a boxer who had up close and personal encounters with every skunk in a 20-mile radius. bought tomato juice by the box.

Ugh. My old dog used to kill skunks that came in our yard. It seemed to happen once a year. That made for several unpleasant weeks…

OJ or Grape Fruit works just as well as Tomato juice, (anything with a low PH) White vinegar or hydrogen peroxide work best however.
