Fast spinning neutron stars called pulsars emit rapid flashes of light with such regularity that they can be used to keep time with accuracy rivaling an atomic clock! Cochineal bugs are ground into powder or chemically boiled down to be used as a food dye! Yum Yum, eat em up! Ratu Udre Udre, a 19th century Fijian cannibal, had more than 800 stones piled around his grave after death- one for each of his reported victims!

The use of cochineal as a dye is not new or unusual. But given its origins as a poster paint and clothing dye, it is unusual to see it as a food dye.

anybody remember a 1930’s ’Little Rascals" episode featuring the wild man from Borneo who kept saying that particular line (YUM YUM eat ’em up!) ?in it, little 5 year old Spanky, who thinks the wild man is going to eat him, says: " I don’t think I’d taste very good. My mom says I’m spoiled"

That little bugger used to be used in Cranberry juice to give it it’s nice, bright red color. Now, you see it looks paler since they stopped using the insect parts.

Insect parts in food? Unavoidable to remove 100%.You should see wheat as it comes out of the combine- injured grasshoppers etc still kicking. Millers go to great lengths to clean it up before grinding into wheat.
