GoComics StatisticsI see that the number of people who have joined GoComics during the five years of its existence has now passed one million.Greetings to Snoopster, one of our newest Calvin and Hobbes posters and perhaps our youngest. Snoopster is number 1,004,645.Among the earliest posters, Margueritem joined in 2008 and she was number 31,856. Thirdguy also joined that year, and Thirdguy was the 36,321st guy.If you want to know someone’s number (or your own), click on their name to view their profile. Their sequential number is at the end of their URL.By the way, the number of people who have signed up for Calvin and Hobbes over the past five years is now up to 198,000, making this the most popular GoComics strip. Of course, 197,000 of them may have drifted away by now…..197,001………..197,002……….197,003……….OK, so a few people found this post to be boring.
Interesting figures Hobbes (Pro), but Marge is nothing compared to the early member that is you. For all we know, you might be the webmaster. I clock in at 32,029 which is earlier than many others on this page. Ages are another matter entirely.
Hobbes, thank you for making the comment section of comics worth scrolling down and reading. Your inputs are usually well-timed, interesting and well written. Sometimes they’re better than the day’s comic, itself. Keep it up, Hobbes. You’re a bright spot in some people’s day.
Actually, peanut butter is used to neutralize the adhesive properties of chewing gum. Parents use peanut butter to get the gum out of children’s hair. Mixing the two should have allowed Calvin to release the book easily. There would be oily splotches on the pages and the cover from the peanut butter, but Calvin would not stick to it.
Thanks, Jaddis, I really appreciate your comment, and I enjoy reading everyone else’s comments. This morning I am deeply saddened to learn about the mass shooting in Colorado.
I love everyone’s comments! Such fun to read and interesting too. I have recommended that my friends start reading so they can get a laugh as well. thanks to all of you who contribute!
@LX013,“…here people hardly know and use peanut butter!”You really ’jar’red me with that ‘scoop’! My bubble gum almost stuck to the roof of my mouth. I had thought peanut butter use was universal, and eaten by everyone who is ‘well-bread’. I just thought I’d ‘sandwich’ …jam, even (Snagglepuss) that jocularity into the mix.I’ll send Jimmy Carter with his Planters in a Jif. Surely he can negotiate ‘grounds’ for cultivating a liking for peanut butter there.P.S. You can even eat peanut butter in your “Teddie”! I almost ’Skippy’ed’ right by that one!
@The Snoopster: You da Snoop! I was talking about you. Click on your name in your posting above. It will take you to your profile page. Then look at the Web address (URL) at the top of the screen. You will see that you are GoComics user number 1,004,645. You’re one in a million!
@The Snoopster: No kid should ever have to go through an experience like what happened in Colorado last night. It will affect everyone who was in that theater, for a long time. I hope that all of their families and friends will be supportive and understanding in the months and even years ahead.
@Hobbs 955772 Sad for Colorado. Thanks Hobbs for all the advice you give to those of us that don’t know that much about computers. Sometimes I wonder if you were invented by Al Gore.
Did some checking…there is no Number 01. However #02 is “dsparling”, who doesn’t seem to have posted since 2007. Lo, thine eyes are saddened to have parted e’er knowing you anon. Prayers for Colorado; they’ve been through a lot.
@Lovecraft: It’s a good idea to know your number, just in case we all attend a GoComics convention someday, and they ask us to all line up in order.Click on your name, in blue, in the posting that you just wrote to me (single click, left mouse button).Your profile page should open up. the funniest thing is that I’m looking at an ad on this page right now for a Kindle Fire. I don’t even want to THINK about what would happen to one of those in Calvin’s hands!
