Every pre-dawn morning I awake to a cacophony of chirps, tweets, coos and squawks. I’m with her on this one. "You sing lovely. Do you know how to sing ‘Far, Far Away’?

Yeah that is about right.. She may think she was saying go away. However the dove knew she meant sit on my window sill and sing to me personally..
It is just a case of that mistranslation that happen in a cross species conversation.

Geez! I love the dawn chorus! Try sleeping in the city to the sounds of glass breaking, police sirens, people screaming, etc. etc. If you have birds singing in the morning, it’s a blessing, not a curse!

Young grandson’s words. “Uncle Rich, get out the German Mauser” !!

Sure, birdsong is prettier than breaking glass and sirens, but if you’re wired so they disturb your sleep, it doesn’t make a difference how pretty it is. A white noise generator, however, works wonders.

Mockingbirds will do a good job of waking you up in the morning, especially if you sleep with the windows open.

My father had an oak tree right outside his second-story bedroom window. During pre-A/C days, that window had to stay open during Florida summers. With fhe first rosy fingers of dawn, a mockingbird would tune up in the tree and sing its heart out. My father would go downstairs and yell at it and throw things. The only possible injury the bird suffered was sore ribs from laughing.
