Tyr was the bravest of the Aesir. When it was necessary to capture a giant wolf, who was an offspring of Loki, Tyr put his hand in the wolf’s mouth to distract it while the others chained it.

Hard to say which is the “real” Avengers. The Avengers TV program (pardon me, programme) debuted in 1961 in the UK. The Avengers comic book was first published in the US in 1963. But the first US broadcast of the TV show was in 1965.
In either case, I have no idea what it is that any of them are supposed to be avenging.

It was a horrible concept for a big budget movie. No one went, it cost an executive at Disney his job and it almost cost the entire Disney film production company their jobs. How much more do you need?
