Yes… only in Crustwood is 6th grade part of junior high.
It’s a special kind of accelerated program…. where 8th grade is the freshman year of high school, and 11th grade is the senior year.
That way, they accelerate on out of the Crustwood school system a whole year early, a big money-saver, and we all know how they love a bargain in Crustwood.
Plus, all the kids who failed a year will still get to graduate at 18…. and even Burl was only 19.
And we can see proof of another thing we’ve all suspected: they’re definitely one brick short of a load.
Morning Crustwood!! How’d ya sleep?
Hope the fish in barbecue sauce didn’t keep you feeling….um… unsettled all night. The idea makes me queasy.
X — that’s it…. “relax.” I was thinking it said “read” .. which would be a puzzle.
Leaky… can’t picture Burl having any experience with accelerated classes, except for the kind where the teacher accelerates you into the hallway for your smart aleck responses.
Mmmmm. Resting from noon till dinner, what a concept. I think I’ll try it sometime. And BBQ sauce on fish to hide the taste? Just what kind of fish are they getting and how old is it? Somehow I don’t think the Pennys are going to spring for something both fresh and wild caught. Maybe canned kippers from the dollar store. Or my all-time favourite, Lutefisk. Yum!
No, he isn’t starting Jr. High in July. I guess they just now got around to asking him about it. With that to-do list, I just may need to borrow some brain bleach! We used to have Jr. High, now we have “middle school” for 7th and 8th graders.
Susan- too early for me to read the T with that dark green; I thought it was just don’t underestimate me. I also thought she planned to read for 4 hours (I cannot imagine any of them reading a book-maybe comic books. I had to chose a book to read on the plane this trip, but I have one packed which hopefully I will finish between the 2 trips.
I agree that Burl is unlikely to have experience with accelerated classes. I went to the same K-8 school from the start, but started early (as a September baby parents had the choice of when I would start) and starting me earlier made more time for Mom to play Ma-jong or Tripoli. I see they also are not willing to fork over a reward for the brick short-typical of the Penny’s.
My mother in law used to study for the eye exam when she renewed her driver’s license. She memorized the chart! DMV kept giving her renewals until we finally took the keys away at 95.
i have a Cactus Jack (wine, brown sugar, boatload of spices, pureed fresh tomato, and of course Jack Daniels) recipe. have it sit in the smoker for 5 or 6 hours at 200degF. YUM!
I have tryed to buy seafood in grocery stores but not recently. When I stayed in one of the NE states for my eldest son’s graduation (bachelor’s) and his wedding, I really enjoyed. Any fish I find has been frozen and is NOT fresh enough to enjoy.. My youngest son likes to fish and that is GOOD even if it was stocked- we went fishing last time he was here and others were catching, but he did not- lovely park and I took my bird, so had a great time anyway, but not worth the price of the licence.

Becky — Timmy’s shirt says “Don’t misunderestimate me.”
Now there’s some wisdom for ya right there.
Betcha Joy had it printed for his birthday …
She’s very studious, you know…. even studies for her eye test.
And she loves vocabulary…. hey, the more syllables the better.
‘Specially if you’re paying by the word. “Me” is so short…. she made them think of a really long word to go with it, so she’d get her money’s worth.

Knowing who Timmy grew up around, I’m surprised “pastry” wasn’t the first word he ever uttered.

I would bet he has no trouble with words like Twinkies, ho-h0’s and Swanson’s either.
To Finale: He doesn’t study for a urine test, doesn’t need to. He always passes because stupid doesn’t show up in urine tests.
I never studied for a urine test, but once while taking one, they caught me peeking at the guy next to me.
