Is it a 9/11? strip? I thought it was Uncle Michael’s death that they started with. The people in the last column aren’t necessarily from 9/11, just anybody’s relatives that died and we want to remember.
No, 9/11 is probably the day he died. From the looks of the strip, he lived a long life, and died much too soon, like all of the people who died on that day…may they RIP.
Which also relates to that after today in that country, they’re about to lose one of the greatest short-wave broadcasting stations ever…Radio Canada International.
This is an awesome strip, whatever the reason. I was just agonizing over whether to send my oldest to overnight camp (I know, it’s a minor issue compared to a death), but now I know I want her close by to make more memories. Sniff.. ’scuse me, something is in my eye.

There is a 9 11 tag on panel three and Sept 11 did land on Sunday for 2011. Perhaps Mr Detorie is taking a vacation. We all need one now and then.

Go Comics runs old strips, not the current ones, of One Big Happy. I go to Arcamax for those:http://www.arcamax.com/comics

Current comic is also at http://www.creators.com/comics/one-big-happy.html?comicname=obh
Detorie writes his comics long-ahead. He could vacation for a year without missing a deadline.

Some brothers are NOT!But, try to get some happy times into all your lives, as soon as possible. And bring a camera!

@Wabbit – if Michael is Ruthie’s uncle, then he is Grandpa’s SON, not brother

None of the strips for One Big Happy that we see on this website are the ‘current’ ones, to my knowledge. The dates are always wrong.

This comic shows the late loved one was very much loved and cheerished. It’s so serene.
