I just went to the Foxtrot website: This week’s strip was pulled because of the Aurora mass shootings.

IN ADDITION: The whole of GoComics is experiencing technical issues.

They did not pull the spanish language version. Remember, comics are submitted about 6 weeks in advance.

They pulled the comic over a freakin’ squirt gun?

Typical conservative insult. I guess you’re even.

Ladies and gentlemen, let’s not fight politics on the comic strip comments. Save it for the news articles.
Waddling Eagle over 12 years ago
I don’t think they pulled the comic. None of the other strips for today are working, either.
pdking77 over 12 years ago
A LOT of strips are missing on Gocomics today. Every one I subscribe to are missing.

I don’t think stupid liberals pulled it. To the people involved, witnesses and relatives, it could be highly upsetting. Some could even experience a bout of PSTD.

Ledzeppelin, this comic was written in June, Sunday Foxtrot strips are current, not reruns. Your memory is playing tricks on you.

I’m a hard-core shooter and very liberterian. That being said, I agree with them for pulling it. Not because they HAVE to but to show respect for folks who are in a lot of pain right now. They don’t need a reminder in the comics. Not really politics, just good taste and compassion.
@Sylvannis: At least not in comics that aren’t speaking to a political topic, agreed!

I respect Bill’s choice. He obviously has a conscience. It has nothing to do with being a liberal. He’s just a compassionate person. Not only is he funny, he gives a damn about people. Caring has no political bounds. I have met many deeply caring people on the right and on the left.

It’s 12:15 and I’m getting it. But, I mean super-big tortillas? I wish they had those at Moe’s!!!!!!

Those of you reading all sorts of malicious political implications into the site problems and the replacement of the “sniper squirt gun” strip with a re-run: remember that GoComics is a BUSINESS. Sometimes they have technical difficulties (as in all strips were down this morning). And sometimes they make a BUSINESS decision to pull a strip (or, I suspect, simply postpone it for a little while) because they believe the original strip, running at this time, might cause some readers to develop negative associations around the companies that advertise on the site. Never forget that you, the reader, are not the customer for this product (unless you’ve popped the extra bucks to go “pro”); the customers for this site are the advertisers, and what they’re buying is your eyeballs on their ads, your pleasant feelings about the amusing gag you just read, and the hope that your brain will associate the pleasant feeling with their product.

Thank you fot the link….Really don’t see the need to pull the strip.

Today’s Sally Forth comic is much more evocative of the Aurora spree, but it wasn’t pulled. Probably should have been.
kraftjeff over 12 years ago
They pulled it because Bill Amend asked them to do so… at least per his site.
Steveh16 over 12 years ago
I certainly can respect Mr. Amend asking them to pull the comic. Why take the chance that a comic is going to offend or hurt someone after such a tragic event? It is both a kind generous thing to do and good business sense.

I’m receiving the comics loud and clear. Maybe someone just got up late.
twinsoniclab over 12 years ago
Yes, you may have seen this before! It replaced the one originally planned for this date, and is dated 7-26-2009. No, Foxtrot wasn’t around in the 70s, but it was in the late 80s. You didn’t have to be “around in the 70s” to know that, as the information is online!
eschmenk over 12 years ago
I believe the copyright on the substituted comic says 2009. The date says 7-26. July 26, 2009 was a Sunday, so that matches.

Yeah, that’s a really powerful song. I saw him on PBS (I think) many many years ago doing this solo with acoustic guitar. I really wish I could find a recording of that. Still, it’s obvious why it’s not a good idea to perform it these days – way too many whack jobs in the world.

I’ve been to a few places where the burritos can be that big. Chipotle, Taco Del Mar, On the Border-local Mexican places and taquerias are also happy to oblige to make a Peter Fox burrito.

Pulling comics because of a tregedy is just plain wrong. Now is the time when we need humor the most
freeholder1 over 12 years ago
too bad there were all those liberal laws letting him have all those guns and ammo. We really need to curtail all that e access stuff. Liberal movie allowed him in. liberal cops even let him live. It’s all those liberals faults OBVIOUSLY. Boy, it’s good to be able to think clearly in this time of crisis. It IS all about politics after all.

None of the strips were up for the better part of this morning. I was able to see them on the e-mail sent to me daily by Go Comics. Except “Foxtrot”. When I went to the “Foxtrot” website, I saw Bill Amend’s note that he had pulled the strip because of Aurora. Then I saw that strip on the Washington Post website. I was expecting to see Jason and his friends dressed as Batman, Bane, and Catwoman. Perhaps Amend thought that was too predictable.
AGrimmy over 12 years ago
“They” did not pull the strip. Neither did “Libtards” pull the strip. Bill Amend pulled the strip himself because he thought it would be in bad taste to print it.

The squirt gun strip should have been fine today. Didn’t make me think of the Colorado situation at all. Too many people give in to the “Politically Correct” mob and that is ruining our country a little bit each time.
drm_801 over 12 years ago
The strip was not pulled in Utah. It made me laugh.

om, Foxtrot was NOT around in the 1970s. It began in 1998.
kraftjeff over 12 years ago
The newspapers don’t have the luxury of pulling the strip as they print the color version weeks in advance.
Sylvannis over 12 years ago
I realize this, but let’s just enjoy the comics and take the fight somewhere else.
Potrzebie over 12 years ago
Sally Forth’s comic was also about the Batman premiere, not pulled from the printers in time.

nope. They didn’t. I saw the strip in my paper.
