One reason ( although there are many more ) I stopped watching tennis, was all the grunting and groaning going on. I thought either they were all auditioning for World Wrestling or having bad bowel movements.
I happened to hear part of a women’s tennis match on TV. From the other room, I thought something large was giving birth on Animal Planet. And they were both doing it with every hit.

I used to prefer woman’s tennis over men (One serve &one volley – except french open) but the grunting has put me off both.

Why do they call it grunting? It’s more like screaming, a very different sound. And I agree with Tina Rhea.
