As some of you may know, starting during the last week of June I progressively lost vision in my right eye due to a swelling of my optic nerve. I’m now about 95% blind in that eye, and doctors have been unable to figure out what is causing the swelling.
As one of the millions of Americans still without health insurance due to lack of “traditional” employment and pre-existing conditions, this has put a major strain on things in our household. I’m trying to scrape together the $500+ it’s going to cost me for an MRI to see if there is a mass or something else pushing on the nerve from behind, and this has taken a lot of my time.
The situation hasn’t helped my clinical depression, either, which has severely impacted my creative process. This combination of causes is why the strip has been in reruns.
Do you have a PayPal account, or can you give us instructions where to send donations? (I’m not sure I have a PayPal account anymore, but I would really like to help.)
After reading the english translations of the “Millenium Trilogies” – (The Girl With/Who…) – I couldn’t help but wonder if all the placements were in Stieg Larson’s original text, or were added by the guy who produced the translations?
They probably drank things like root beer, ginger ale, and lemonade as soft drinks back in the Victorian era. Homemade root beer and ginger ale can be really good.
Pab, very sorry to hear of your health problems. I understand only too well the frustration of battling the health care system.I also, have a problem with one eye that requires surgery but since I’m retired and my only insurance is Medicare, although I pay for optical, there’s a co-pay for the operation. Since I’m on a very limited fixed income, I can’t afford the co-pay. Catch 22.I hope that somehow, someway, somebody who recognizes your talent, will step forward and assist you. You’re a very gifted young man. Hang in there. We are all pulling for you.
Great idea Gweedo. Perhaps somebody out there has the smarts to set up an account for Pab. As I commented earlier, I know the feeling but would be happy to kick in what I can.Anybody got any ideas how to set this up ?
