When I was a kid and there was still a Woolworth’s, you used to be able to buy a helium balloon for less than a dollar. A friend of mine and I used to buy one and release it, after attaching a message to it saying from where it had been launched and by whom and asking the finder to let us know. where it had come down.
We got two replies. The balloons hadn’t gone very far in either case, one case it was thirty or forty miles, the other wasn’t much more than ten. We did manage to get our names in the local paper, though!
Did you know inhaling helium can cause temporary blindness? The gas thins out something in your eyes. So be careful if you want to suck our helium from a balloon so you can sing like the Bee Gees. I read all this in a newspaper article.
I’ve only ridden in a balloon once (with my BF and one of his daughters when they visited me in Phoenix). He wants to do another next time he comes here. Imagination is a great thing too and Mimi is so cute! After a 3 week trip to Chicago I will use my imagination and Skype.

Has anyone ever encountered a “Balloon Vending Machine” before…??
I remembered seeing one ages ago in Yellow/Black…
It’s been a very-very-long or another life time since I’ve last seen one…

Tie it around Mimi’s wrist, and quick! There are few things sadder than a lost balloon.
