If Macy is in the habit of asking peoples’ names, in this strip he shouldn’t be too surprised if they sound weird. Funny how Phil H. didn’t answer him.

Well, Sid Vicious isn’t around any more, and his heirs are unlikely to sue over what we’ve seen so far. I wonder how far Locher will go, though. Will Kid Vicious join up with Jimmy Rotten to form a band called the Sex Guns? Will he assault a journalist with a bicycle chain?
More likely it’s just a failure of imagination – Locher tried to think of a suitable stage name for a rock & roller for about half a minute, “Kid Vicious” was the first idea to float into his widdle head, and he didn’t even think about why.
A real detective would find him as soon as he appears in public. There aren’t a lot of anti-gravity scarves around.

Taking about his (1993) solo story between Collins and Kilian’s arrival, Locher (a 1975 interview). hints above at how much research he puts in for his Dick Tracy stories.
Pehaps Diet has seceretly done some reseach on the cellphone seeing he now uses it “exclusively”. But as DL drifts away into those little “snap offs” of memory loss it seems he plum forgot to tell his readers. One could call that a communication snafu.
Diet was clearly depicted at his desk “Land Line” instrument on desk top and Speaking to Tracy by hand set. who was using the Wrist device
In fact NO* character *other than Tracy has used the Wrist Geenee or is earlier incarnation for the past twenty years
Just mentioning Locher’s ongoing lack of use of things he inherited that make the strip “sharp” and attention getting.
Seems he has inoculated himself with an “anti-Gould” vaccine. Don’t like it. Let them forget it
You.ve put your “finger” on one of the strip’s problems. That half minute consideration to those names. It’s pervasive throughout the strip. Lack of “interest” bogs it down and he can’t come to terms that it’s his own silly changes and avoidance of doing things the way Gould did them that has brought the strip his inhertance (and his “income” from it) DOWN to small change !

The Pig on Wheels makes too much sense. However, I must say that I miss the guy. Let’s hope he returns. Margueritem appears to be taking good care of him.
Like James Bond and Batman, the most interesting part of the old Dick Tracy comic strip was the villains. Unfortunately, Tracy seems to have outlived all of his old adversaries. What some bright young cartoonist needs to do is to reboot the old strip and resurrect the old foes.
