Have you seen all the protections put in place? Rockets on apartments and an aircraft carrier in the Thames….What, are they expecting an invasion by Russia? Sheese. An aircraft carrier can’t stop a bomb….
Don’t you just feel the excitement ? Aren’t you just on pins and needles ? Have you caught Olympic fever yet ?Ho hum. Cure for Olympic fever is: Take two aspirin and turn off the TV.
Morning all. Not necessarily feeling better but a little less preoccupied with other concerns at the moment. THANK YOU ALL who chipped in to help with my MRI. I’m waiting for an appointment this week and a follow-up at the hospital on August 1st. I will keep everyone apprised.
Oh, and Susan (and the others who complained about it in the past), did you notice the “x” is off the magnifying glass?
I have to admit, sadly, that Pab has hit the nail on the head. The Olympics have degenerated into just another track and field meet with the added bonus of having a world stage to make some sort of lame-ass political statement.
Like the Super Bowl the Olympics has turned into an orgy of tacky, crass commercialism and meaningless, vapid hype. NBC has been pimping it for six months now. It’s all boring nonsense and I certainly will be having none of it.
It’s not The Olympics that are bad. It’s NBC’s mindless, jingoistic coverage. You know, any event not won by an American didn’t happen. Don’t get me started on their vapid slice of life stories.
As a Briton, allow me to say that the whole Olympic thing has lost its way. It’s not about the games anymore, it’s about all the money wasted on ceremonies, architecture, security, and other hype. .Just run the races, putt the shots, swim etc. And let us eat what we want in the arena, Sponsorship is NOT dictatorship.
“This year’s games are brought to you by The Olympics™, the official games of the Olympics.”÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷Pab, here’s hoping you get good news.X (Crossed fingers)
If it wasn’t for the commercial hype, the Olympics (especially summer) wouldn’t exist at all. Notice how many professional leagues there are for track and field, swimming and gymnastics that have thousands of fans?

I’m surprised QV is taken a bit by surprise by this, considering it’s being hosted in her maj’s back yard.
