Katy: Werewolves can only live in the city. Haven't you seen "Teen Wolf"? Clayton: That's the suburbs. Katy: Hey, look. You made mom cry. Clayton: That was you with all your crazy talk of moving to the country. Katy: It's okay, mom. We'll never move out. Clayton: Yeah. We'll stay with you forever. Laura: Waah!!

Actually both you and @adubman are right: First she had an “empty nest” moment flash and then she freaked out at the prospect of being stuck with those kids even when they’re grown.

About eight years ago, my stepson dang near traumatized my grandson by telling the boy he’d be leaving home in about ten years. Now that my grandson is a junior in high school, that incident doesn’t seem to have affected him any.
