    I’m sure Susie wouldn’t waste her time sending Calvin a coded message. And it can’t be the big bully: I’ll bet he can’t even write, let alone write in code.

    it has got to be ‘Hobbes’ because I can’t see it being Susie(like Arye Uygur)—she wouln’t waste her time. But that brings us to the quantry that Hobbes only does what Calvin imagines him doing. So, we have the ’ chicken or the egg’ problem. Excuse me, I have a headache—too much thinking at my age.

    Deciphering has come a long way since the 50’s. Remember when you needed a Capt. Midnight secret ring? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WvKlqMjfk1Y

    It’s actually never been established that Hobbes is a figment of Calvin’s imagination. I personally believe that Calvin’s just the only one who can see Hobbes, the Transmogrifier, etc, due to his amazing mind.

    @IndyMan

    So… Calvin is a “multiple personality,” and the note is from one of his “alters”?

    Yeah, that would work…

    If this is a repeat of the earlier strip, in 1992, I’ll be very disappointed. When work has to be duplicated, you’re running out of ideas. Change the ending and throw everyone off.

    Years ago, my dad received an insulting Valentine.Instead of blowing his top and accusing anyone, he just filed it quietly away.About a week later, a classmate asked him:“Get any Valentines this year?”“No, not a single one.”“You didn’t? Why, I sent you one!!”

    Can’t be Hobbes. If it were Hobbes, he’d no longer be in that gray area, is he real or is he a figment of Calvin’s imagination. We really don’t want that question answered do we?

    Didn’t we already answer which one Hobbes is? Calvin can’t tie himself to a chair, or have himself hit with a pouncing tiger.
