@briatollah and @Robina Fox: I never knew about either of those Saints; something fun and cool to look up (besides being bombarded with all those baby bump stories…)
C’mon, this isn’t anti-church – this is a kid asking a question (and a writer making a joke). As a sort-of-a-Catholic, I guess I was supposed to pray to a saint, but I always skipped middle management, and went straight to God.
The direct line to God is through Jesus, rather than saints. After all, He did say that no one comes to the Father but through Him (Jesus). The kid is on the right track.
Howtheduck: I thought she was Unitarian. I am ordained Methodist and I have had plenty of things to say about what churches have done or refused to do. Go back to the origins of today’s headlines for examples. It’s called “the prophetic nature of the ministry” and it is not about predicting the future, except maybe conditionally, but that’s just pointing out cause and effect, and we can work to change the cause.
“Andy, from Doonesbury said, admittedly in a dream, that Heaven was carpeted, wall-to-wall.”And Lacey Davenport, also from “Doonesbury,” complained about the ugly draperies. Her husband, Dick, said something to the effect of, “Shh! Mrs. God picked them out!”

I don’t think God outsources his work. How sweet that Michael wants to pray for Farley, children need to understand the importance of prayer.

You talk to God The Father, God The Son and God the Holy Spirit … who is one in the same. Trinity.

I thought that this was a great comic today. My Lutheran church has a blessing of the animals the first Sunday in October and we have a great turn out
