The fourth panel seems to be from another toon…it doesn’t seem to have much to do with the first three…unless the fourth panel is about um, naughty bits…

BTW,I took a bunch of students to a petting zoo one time….Come on, you saw it coming right down Michigan Avenue…To be delicate, let’s just say that a couple of goats had gone beyond even heavy petting…Education is great!

OK, folks, last panel, Arlo with cleaning supplies and tools – how great a boat (of ANY size) weekend is this going to be??!?

The last panel is the POINT.

Arlo is gathering all sorts of cleaning supplies to take with him.

Janis reminds him that there might not be time for all that, with the graduation party and “family reunion,” of sorts, going on.

So he whines cos she wants him to go to silly family stuff the whole weekend instead of scrubbing his precious boat….

Suddenly, swabbing decks and polishing brightwork is fun … even though she knows the sight of a mop at home would make him blanch.

I guess, if you are a boat fan, that could be fun?

Does anyone know, geographically speaking, how far Gene & boat are from Arlo & Janis? 100 miles? 500 miles? five hour drive? Six hour flight?

    Thanks.

My w and often go to the river to watch the boats. ALWAYS when they come in the hubby drives and the wife hops on deck and grabs the ropes. Also I see these fat guys with these hot chicks, do they actualy think they are going with them and not the boat?

Varnes, we’re not chained – we’re holding hands, and loving it, even after 38 years. But I still don’t think a weekend of swabbing decks and swinging a paint brush is fun.

When is that boat ever going out to sea?

♫ “I can still hear you saying we will never break the (never break the) chain.” ♪ Sure, there are miserable married people, but there are miserable single people, too. Ours is the chain of love – and who’d want to break that?

A buddy once had a “party”. When he invited people they would ask “What can I bring or do to help out?”. By the time he was done inviting people he got his deck refinished, lawn and yard groomed and house cleaned. He also had a huge amount amount of food and liquor that lasted quite a while.

And won’t their bosses be mad at them for not showing up at work? …we never SEE them arranging for vacation time, or specifying that it’s only a weekend trip…And couldn’t somebody break into their house while they’re gone?… we never SEE them locking the door when they leave…And won’t their car run out of gas when they’re halfway there? …we never SEE them filling up the tank…

Sorry for picking on you! ;-) It just bewilders me how, every single time A&J go on a trip, at LEAST one person will ask “who’s looking after Ludwig?!?” …why on earth wouldn’t you just assume that they’ve arranged for a cat-sitter? I don’t get it.

A boat is a hole in the water into which you pour money. Had one, sold it, don’t miss it.

Who takes care of Ludwig…I used to put down enough dry food and a large bowl of water for my cats when I went away for the week-end. Now my 17 year old cat’s teeth aren’t very good so now she can only eat soft canned food. I have to heat it up, mash it up, put down just a little ‘cause that’s all she can eat at one time. If I put down too much she’ll eat so much and then walk away . If I don’t take it up right away her fat grandson will eat the rest. Then she’ll come back begging for more. I can’t get anyone else to baby her like that so, I mostly stay home. She might not have much longer so I do that for her. SORRY FOLKS FOR GOING ON!

What I’ve discovered after 37 years of marriage is that most people making fun of we “chained slaves”, wish they were as happy. ;)

Know well that the beach/boat is 4 to 5 hours away. The work ethic that Jimmy was raised with says you don’t waste a few days when everyone is “off”. It is very hard to not take advantage of the extra help that is just sitting around with no plans. War eagle Jimmy!
