I still don’t have one. Can’t afford it. Plus, my adult child said, “I’d die if I didn’t have a cell phone” and I see too many people in their cars that don’t pay attention because they use the idiotic things too much.
Sorry gang. I’ve had one for years, and about 10 years ago it was a life-saver. My son was in Kindergarten and was supposed to go to to an after school program (which used a different bus than the one for home). He forgot and got onto the bus for home. My wife was out of town. I was in town but on the road for work. Now, the bus drivers aren’t supposed to let kids in K or 1st off the bus unless a parent is waiting for them, but this idiot did – on a highway where our house is. I got a call – on my cell phone – from the after school person that he never arrived. Because I was still far away from home, I called the school (just a mile from home), and the principal of the school drove down there to find him hiding in our garage crying (he had no key since he was never supposed to be home alone). I was there within fifteen minutes, but getting the principal there in 5 sure helped. By the time she arrived, he had been there a half hour. Without that phone, he would have been locked outside alone for at least 5 hours.
My cell is the only phone I use. I got it becasue it was CHEAPER than a landline. Plus, now that I must travel for work frequently it is much more convenient.
We resisted a cells for quite a while. Until my husband was stranded in an airport over night and couldn’t reach me until I’d left for the airport over 90 minutes away. I got there to find out he wasn’t on his flight, despite the website saying his previous flight was in over 40 minutes before the next one took off. They failed to mention that “in” ment landed and it was stuck on the tarmack for over an hour! which is why I missed his call warning me not to go pick him up by about 5 minutes. Now it’s the only phones we have, b/c it’s cheaper than the landline. But I still can’t abide texting.

I appreciate all the things my cell phone does, that my landline didn’t.

The idea that’s she running around in a total panic through a meadow looking for her phone is hilar.
