Toni is getting wiggy over this – showing her own fear of commitment.

People use mailboxes on corners still?
TheSkulker about 12 years ago
This is getting way too far fetched. No intelligent person (and Toni is intelligent), would perpetrate a federal crime just to prevent an imagined “love” crisis!
The Nihilist about 12 years ago
Don’t even want to see where this farce is heading — waay to far over the top. When Toni should know to quietly give a word to the wise.

Didn’t Lucy do something like this once?
ridenslide65 about 12 years ago
Like I said, in the mail. No surprise there.
barbarasbrute about 12 years ago
Toni, get a grip. Go home (alone of course) and make yourself miserable. No need to involve the DeGroots.IT’S A FEDERAL OFFENSE FOR CRIKEY’S SAKE. Where the heck is your brain, (IF you ever had one.)

This something Fred Flintstone and Barney Rubble would do, (and have done) !!

What is a letterbox?
Sisyphos about 12 years ago
For the dead-tree deprived among us: yes, there still are corner mail boxes, and yes, people still use them. But, that said, Toni needs to calm down before she commits a federal crime and washes her career as a firefighter down the drain! Brad, don’t just stand there!
lisajwalton about 12 years ago
Maybe this shows that Toni regrets telling Brad that she loves him.

Brad grow a pair tell Toni to halt and desist!

I see Greg Evans copying an old Peanuts strip of Charlie Brown writing to his pencil-pal—and forgetting one important item, as he is reminded afterwards by Linus.
(short version: Luann probably forgot the stamp!)

We don’t know she is going to break into the box. She may just try to wait for the pickup. It does seem pretty much out of character for her, though.
Yuban333 about 12 years ago
Okay, first Toni is sticking her nose in where it doesn’t belong. Second, people still send actual letters in the mail? Third, it’s 2012, I’m surprised that Luann didn’t send Quill an e-mail.
drewpamon about 12 years ago
Here is the scenario I have in mind. Toni rushes to the fire station grabs a hose truck and soaks all the letters in the mailbox. All in the name of fear of commitment.
wiselad about 12 years ago
looks like Toni and/or Brad will go soon to jail if they get caught with hands “on the cookie jar”

whats a mail box?
SwimsWithSharks about 12 years ago
I hope Toni gets arrested for tampering with the mailbox. She’s overdue, after assaulting Anne Eyeful with a loaded brat.
crystalwizard about 12 years ago
Someone please slap the author really hard. why does he have to go off the deep end so often with stupid plots/
no more luann till he finishes this arc … again.
Hugh Manatee about 12 years ago
It’ll now take the next five days worth of strips for them to get back through the house and out the front door.
babsbybend about 12 years ago
Felony, Toni. Camel toe, Luann.
babsbybend about 12 years ago
Brad became a firefighter in honor of the first responders of 9/11. Please click over to http://www.gocomics.com/dicktracy/ to see a comic strip that honors them today.

Toni has fallen from grace in my opinion. Now she is nothing more than a blond with big hair. And now her legs match her brain. We never see a sign of either.

Freeholder1 – I was about to comment " Didn’t I see this a long time ago, like on I Love Lucy?" Must be something about great minds watch the same sitcoms and have good memories.

A teenager in this day and age uses snail-mail?
yankeetexan about 12 years ago
why didn’t Toni or Brad ask Luann what she said in the letter before heading off to break the law? Guess Toni assumed it was a ‘I LOVE you’ want you letter? Maybe it was a ‘I miss you & really care about you and can’t wait until I see you again’ letter. Just saying not to jump to conclusions so quickly.
bagbalm about 12 years ago
Mailboxes are hard to break into. Might as well pour in gasoline and add arson. http://www.suntimes.com/business/7427553-420/postal-service-getting-rid-of-many-corner-mailboxes.html
JimT8 about 12 years ago
This is so wrong in so many ways. Both Toni and Brad have had an attack of stupidity. Aside from not minding their own business, Toni is trying to stop Luann from what she herself did; Brad should have pointed that out to her. I am starting to worry about her mind. Brad’s original advice to Luann was fine and he should have defended himself to Toni. And Luann should have used Skype, as she said she could.

I like Brad’s decision, no use worrying over what is too late, no reason to even mention it.-On the other hand, it IS still possible to legally retrieve the letter if Luann has her name on the return address and explains to the letter carrier that she wishes to NOT mail what she initially sent.
Mordock999 about 12 years ago
Oh, Fer CRYIN’ Out Lo……,Brad? Be SURE You make Toni an HONEST Woman and MARRY Her FIRST, okay? There, Ya HAPPY NOW, JP??(And Folks Call ME Cranky BEFORE MY first Cup ’O Joe. GEEEEEEEEZ!!)

Wouldn’t the first thing you ask before tearing a mailbox apart, would be asking what Luann said in the letter?

This current story line is the funniest it’s been in a long time! Keep it up!

Toni is being way over the top about this. She is projecting herself into this and hopefully Brad will realize that and step back on his relationship with Toni. It has nothing to do with Luann – it has everything to do with how Toni feels about relationships. Brad, wake up and observe!

How many more seconds till Brad gets a hair across his ass for ruining his date?
rifframone about 12 years ago
It’s only $1.05 to send a letter to Australia, and the recipient has a personal item to keep and cherish, unlike an email. Even if you print it out, it’s still just an email. It’s not the same as an honest-to-goodness letter.
melmarsh9v about 12 years ago
I will have to wholeheartedly agree with those who feel that this current plot borders upon the ridiculous. First of all, it seems vastly implausible that an adult like Toni would be so overly concerned about a teenager’s romance. Secondly, it strains the bounds of credibility that a public servant could even consider trying to retreive mail without realizing the consequences. Until the last few months, I had always regarded this comic as being fairly realistic in the way the characters are depicted…
melmarsh9v about 12 years ago
Yes, and I think there was a Honeymooners episode where Ralph Kramden wrote a crappy letter to his boss at the bus company, and then tried to retrieve it…
Dave Chappell Premium Member about 12 years ago
If she drop that letter off in a official Postal collection box, the only way to retrieved the letter is to go to the post office and fill out some forms. They will then informed the person that collects mail from that box. Then they will set that mail aside and give it to their supervisor when they return to the post office.

Getting dumber…that plus the fantasy that women presumptive understand relationships and love
JoeStoppinghem Premium Member about 12 years ago
Well I’m betting Luann didn’t have the courage to say to Quinn that she loves him. But she won’t tell T&B for a few more strips.
9thCapricorn about 12 years ago
True, but if he loses Toni, where will he go? Diane is gone, Ann is secretly in love with TJ, and all of Luann’s friends with the exception of Tiffany are too smart to have anything to do with him.Even Tiffany would find a way to keep away from him.Greg will just have to create a new character for Brad because Toni is getting stupider and stupider and such a commitment phoebe. Looks is not everything so perhaps Greg will draw someone ordinary looking yet interesting with plenty of common sense. Like Bernice…..perhaps just push Bernice and Brad together .Bernice will discover that Brad is not just a couch potato and actually has something to offer. Looks is not everything and Bernice knows that. She was in love once with a man in a wheelchair.
Gokie5 about 12 years ago
I slogged through 96 comments to see whether anyone had mentioned this: When I read the strip, it seemed to me that Toni wants Luann to retrieve the letter. Luann asked what was going on, and Toni said, “I’ll explain on the way to the mailbox.” Her wiggling fingers are beckoning to Luann (Brad’s not even looking toward her, and the comix eyes in the back of Toni’s head can see this). I’d say that she wants Luann to retrieve her own letter. It’s still really off the wall as an idea, of course, but does make for drama.
9thCapricorn about 12 years ago
but perhaps Mr. Evans could meet her halfway by upgrading Brad.
Greg already did. He pulled Brad off the couch and turned him into a fire fighter and made him buff. It is Bernice he needs to upgrade. All Bernice does is being Luann’s sound board and sitting around. But even without upgrading Bernice, she is already a lot better than Toni….who has proven to be an airhead. I think TJ and Toni deserve each other – neither has common sense.
