Many are the strong who cannot stand the sight of blood (“…cannot stand…”—get it? Oh, I break me up!)!

I think Petey should stay away from anything in the medical or even dental profession, marg.

Can’t make self shut up about grandkids: My “Alice,” when I asked her whether she’d had a good day at school yesterday, said, “Not at ALL!” It seemed that they were allowed only one minute to eat, and at recess a boy pushed her down and she skinned something. Later she said it was her arm, but she couldn’t find the injury or remember which arm.

Alice’s instinctive generosity is bigger than her owie. May we all have that.

I’ve never had a problem with blood, ever, but when my 5 y.o. daughter had to have a mole removed she was the one who was calm and fine and it was mom who got woosy when I realized “They’re cutting into and taking a CHUNK out of my BABY.”.My 6’4" dad on the other hand could barely handle my cuts and scrapes when I was a kid. And still can’t stand to have blood drawn to this day.

Update on our “Alice”: Today she managed to fall down and get a pinkish red blotch on her right cheek and side of her nose, as well as skinning a knee and getting a Band-aid from the school nurse. She is in fine spirits, though. Doubt her knee scratch would have taken down Petey.

When I was a mom (back in the 60s) I finally discovered the wonder of butterfly bandages (after proper cleansing) and never dealt with emergency rooms again (worst thing for parents).!
