Alex “understands”, and loves Leo, good enough for me. Warren actually understands the Constitution, and what this nation stands for, vs Brown, the centerfold for “Idiot’s Digest”, good enough for me.
Trudeau has for decades made thinking Americans think, and those incapable of a complete thought, freak out. Good enough for me. (BTW, “conservatives”, especially authoritarian ones like Akin, Ryan, Cheney etc, who aren’t capable of accepting any facts that disagree with their preconceived notions aren’t ALWAYS “evil”, just dangerous. Okay, Cheney IS evil AND dangerous, still..)
I am glad to see that some actually are supporting Akin. I want Claire to be able to run against him. Ted Kennedy had a car accident. So did Laura Bush when she blew through a stop sign many years ago, yet I don’t recall anyone accusing her of murder. The Akin/Ryan bill would ruin many women’s lives if allowed to pass. Akin/Ryan believe that only some women are “legitimately” raped. The caveman term is well deserved.
Yes, Laura Bush blew through a stop sign many years ago and someone was killed. Most people probably don’t know this since Democrats don’t choose to harp about it constantly in the way Republicans have about Ted Kennedy’s accident many years ago. I am not saying that we should accuse Laura Bush of murder, but you must be since you are saying that Ted Kennedy killed someone in a car accident many years ago.

It was an accident. Unpremeditated. Got that? If not, look it up, write it down, and remember it
Yes, Ted Kennedy had a car accident and someone died as a result. He also became one of our greatest members of the US Senate. Laura Bush also had a car accident and someone was tragically killed. Of course, it was properly considered an accident, even though she failed to yield at a stop sign, which is breaking the law, as we all know. After this terrible mistake, laura married George Bush and later became the First Lady of the US. The terrible accident, in which she was at fault, was not and should not be considered the defining moment of her life and this is my belief even though I never once voted for her husband. At the same time, I believe that the memory and legacy of Ted Kennedy should not be defined by one tragic accident in which he was involved.
I wonder if the National Guard ever prosecutes a non-veteran who impersonates a veteran. Impersonating a police detective in civilian clothing is as much a crime as impersonating a uniformed police officer. Even online. But what about misrepresenting one’s self as a former member of the National Guard or other armed service?
Barack Obama, while disappointing me as a would-be liberal, may be as good a President as can be expected. Judging by the public opinion polls, the jury is still out.πOTOH, still judging by the opinion polls, the Bush II presidency was a disaster from which this great nation may never fully recover.πHear it from “The Boss” Bruce Springsteen:πNow main streets whitewashed windows and vacant storesSeems like there aint nobody wants to come down here no moreThey’re closing down the textile mill across the railroad tracksForeman says these jobs are going boys and they ain’t coming back toYour hometown, your hometown, your hometown, your hometown.
“Ted Kennedy killed a woman and did not feel that the incident was worth reporting.”πMost of the reporting surrounding the death of Mary Jo Kopechne is inaccurate nonsense masquerading as the truth. The idea that “Ted Kennedy killed a woman and did not feel that the incident was worth reporting” has never been established.
“So yesterday I threw in a fairly early opening line about pickles. . .”Thanks for today’s comment, Richard. Yesterday I came in a little late, and couldn’t for the life of me figure out where the pickle and deli and pun stuff was coming from. I kept reading Joanie’s comments for a clue, and drawing a blank.
I think we will have to agree to disagree on some things when it comes to some of the posters here. I am aware that some do not appreciate Ted Kennedy, although others do admire him very much. It is sad that some feel the need to bring up the reputation of a man who is no longer with us in order to defend the actions of someone in this day and age. Nothing like living in the present. Akin is among us right now and we can’t ignore him, unfortunately. As a woman, I would love to pretend that the likes of Akin and Ryan do not exist. However, I would do so at my peril. I enjoy having the freedom to live as I choose, not as others would have me to live.
Chappaquiddick:πHere’s what Wikipedia has to say:πA week after the incident, Kennedy pleaded guilty to leaving the scene of an accident after causing injury. He received a two-month suspended sentence.8 On a national television broadcast that night, Kennedy said that he had not been driving “under the influence of liquor” nor had he ever had a “private relationship” with Kopechne.15 The Chappaquiddick incident and Kopechne’s death became the topic of at least fifteen books, as well as a fictionalized treatment by Joyce Carol Oates. Questions remained about Kennedy’s timeline of events that night, specifically his actions following the incident.16 The quality of the investigation has been scrutinized, particularly whether official deference was given to a powerful and influential politician, and his family.16 The events surrounding Kopechne’s death damaged Kennedy’s reputation and are regarded as a major reason that he was never able to mount a successful campaign for President of the United States.17 Kennedy expressed remorse over his role in her death, in his posthumously-published memoir, True Compass.18πThe bracketed numbers refer to footnotes that in turn refer to sources. Google “Mary Jo Kopechne” crossed with “Wikipedia” to bring this up.
Symptoms of paranoid schizophrenia from Mayo Clinic:π• Auditory hallucinations, such as hearing voices• Delusions, such as believing a co-worker wants to poison you• Anxiety• Anger• Emotional distance• Violence• Argumentativeness• Self-important or condescending manner• Suicidal thoughts and behaviorπNow infuse these into a sociopath (no empathy) and you’ve got one potent witch’s brew.πBottoms up!
If “Sarge” has deceived himself about his own lack of U.S. military armed service, then he has also deceived himself about NBC and elected Obama, NBC and elected Gore, and NBC but Unelected Usurper Bush II. (NBC = natural born citizen.)
Here’s the way I understand this: “Sociopath” is the older term that has been replaced in the professional literature (such as the DSM-IV). The newer term is “antisocial personality disorder” (APD). Both the American Psychiatric Association (APA) and the American Psychological Association (also APA, unfortunately) have approved the change. πHowever, the older term (“sociopath”) continues to linger in the media and public at large, and therefore also among many practicing therapists. They feel they have to continue to use the older term in therapy in order to more effectively to communicate with their patients, many of whom are unaware of the change to the newer term (APD).πBoth terms mean exactly the same thing, except for this caveat: Ongoing research has updated slightly the meaning of the newer term.πAnybody can learn more about this by googling the two APA websites and then searching inside them for public information.

Yes, thanks for clearing that up. I got here late and missed it, too. Too bad; it’s a topic I would have relished.
