    That was Lincoln’s first term. No radio or TV back then … his popularity went up after he became better known.

    MOST presidents only get between 45 and 55%, and I believe around 61% was the highest ever….

    That one was called a landslide for Lyndon Johnson, but was widely taken at that time as more of a landslide against Barry Goldwater.

    Third party candidates have usually been statistically insignificant. Ralph Nader registered about half a percent of the total in 2008 and nobody else came close to that.

    Ron Paul’s percentage was a flyspeck.

    1) Lincoln was not on the ballot in any southern state.2) Texas is the only state that fought a war to GAIN slavery.

    I remember we always have a Juneteenth celebration in my town every year, and one of the barbecues we go to has some of the best ribs. The woman who serves the food at the event is also pretty funny since she always gives you a generous amount of food, but goes ballistic if you try and serve yourself.
