hmmm, the word ‘reception’ was used in a previous strip, now it’s switched to ‘party’. That means it’s definitely a wedding reception. See, if Janis and MaryLou had used the word ‘reception’ again and it isn’t a graduation reception, that leaves only a wedding reception, so changing the word to ‘party’ throws off the suspicion of what it might be.

Ahh yes, extra semester….the “victory Lap”.

I’m always amazed when people do as Gene has done – suddenly find out they aren’t actually quite ready to graduate. It’s really not hard to know! Unless you just haven’t been keeping track, which is pretty much a matter of burying your head in the sand. All you have to do is check, and many schools send it out on a regular basis. Furthermore, any student who isn’t on top of the requirements of their program is not serious about it!

Exactly what sort of degree is he going for that he needs credits he can get by interning as a short order cook?

…not to say anything against your son, but perhaps she came to her senses? ie, figured out that marriage wasn’t what she wanted? And that she wanted to be a marine? Better to find out before the wedding than after, for both of them…

probably a business degree of some sort … don’t underestimate real experience at running a business.

Dave53, that is what I was thinking. it is a logical degree for him to be getting, and one that could easily entail an internship. All he has to do is help out in the office and they’ll probably give him the credits. I am sure he is pretty knowledgeable about the restaurant by now and knows what goes into running it.

Well he certainly dodged a bullet there, didn’t he.
