For logical consistency, in the top middle frame (which I assume is frame 2), Toada should say something like “So, you don’t labor on Labor Day?”, or “Do you work alone in silent contemplation?”. Then, in the top right frame (frame 3), Toada should say something like “Or do you perhaps perform a pageant of symbolic labor?”.
Yeah, I will be working a 12 on labor day, monitoring what must be monitored. No OT, no extra, just after 40 hrs we send in the timecard. Such is the life of a 24/7/365 shop.

Not supposed to wear white shoes? Why?
spirit42 about 12 years ago
Toada is learning about unions. @pcolli – because white is bad after labor day – everybody knows that. White = Bad.

pcolli, nobody knows why. That’s just the way it is. My dad obeyed that rule strictly….

Well shucks, I always thought labor day had something to do with a pregnancy . . . ☻

I wear white shoes every day, unless I’m in a green shoe mood.

Hey – how come there’s no MANAGEMENT day? That would be a day we we manage not to labor.

Most of those in call centers aren’t in the USA so it doesn’t mean anything to them.

No….it’s self explanatory. Like Mothers’ day, she still has to cook and do the usual stuff.

We get that part. Pam’s expression makes it clear that she gets it too.

After Labor Day, straw hats are unfashionable.

Really? Almost all day before anyone asked how Toada’s observation applied to Election Day?

NEVER wear socks with sandals….it’s SO 1950s.

And in that same tone of sarcasm, “Thank you, Toada!”
