I don’t mind color commentators—the good ones add to the broadcast. What I can’t stand are “sideline reporters” who NEVER have anything interesting to say. I always wonder why they’re there in the first place.
It was a great opportunity that was wasted. Aside from from “no announcers” NBC did not have a game plan for the broadcast. They viewed it as a gimmick and the directors made no effort to enhance the the replays with end zone shots, running game clocks (all available at the time). Everyone knew that it was a one time event and everyone had to work together the next day.

godfrey. Sideline “reporters” seem to be mostly young pretty women. . Being pretty is their only real qualification.
