I wonder if pure happiness has a shelf life.

Of course, if Dakota was the only one who could see the Pure Happiness, then all the other girls now think she’s nuts for getting so excited about an empty box!

Dispensing happiness is part of the basic nature of equines. They are a pleasure to ride and a joy to behold. To banish depression is the essence and purpose of their magic.

Pure happiness? Ah, yes, the substance known as lucre. It may not buy happiness but you can rent it for awhile.

Happiness is a side-dish of french fries.

Happiness means different things to different people. What Dakota saw or felt when she opened that box depends on what makes her happy. Only Dakota really knows what it was, and I don’t think she is going to tell anyone.

Happiness is the Epilogue of Boito’s “Mefistofele”, the Immolation Scene of “Götterdämmerung”, “I’ll see you again” and “If love were all”, the “Leonora” Overture #3, the last five minutes of “Babylon 5”, and Andrea Corr singing “Ideal World”.
Happiness is the last scenes of “Cymbeline” and “The Winter’s Tale”, and Elizabeth Bennett, Anne Elliot, and Harriet Vane saying “Yes” (or “Placet”, in the last case).
Happiness is curtain calls, especially after a opera, or Shakespeare, or a Renaissance Faire. And, on a personal note, happiness is a professor all the way from England saying in a book about a play from 1727 that your research was the most useful work on the subject in almost three hundred years—especially if you were a physics major.

You forgot “Happiness is hearing the lamentations of their women”…

Happiness was a box seat for “La Traviata” at the Metropolitan Opera last April. A shame I can only afford to go to the Met once a year at most.

I’d be happy if every new HN strip was waiting for me when I woke up, like today’s was. Webcomics aren’t much of a paradigmatic shift if they don’t improve on local newspaper delivery.

It’s more fun to be /in/ “La Traviata”, even if you’re only playing Dr. Grenville. (Actually, last night I was at a memorial for a Germont I worked with twice. A great singer and an amazing actor; the world is a sorrier place without him.)
