How fortunate for Masonne that he makes that “joke” to the one person in Centerville who can’t hold up a recording device in one hand and dump an overpriced soda over Jarre’s smug kisser with the other (No, Becky doesn’t count).
Just a minute…“‘Starbuck Jones’ trilogy”? Since when were there three SJ films? I can only recall two with Mr. Jarre and Marianne Winters that came out circa 2017 and 2021, respectively.
“But hahaha, who are we kidding? We can’t do that, you’d have to PAY for that and this place doesn’t have a dime! So it’s basically going to show nothing but my movies or public domain stuff that people can watch for free at home.”
Presuming “Starbuck Jones” is an analogy for a certain archeologist/adventurer with the nickname of a Midwestern state, there are five in that series. The fifth will be released this Friday. And, why shouldn’t the theatre Mason invested in, help him recoup his investment? I’m sure that SAG/AFTRA would love the idea. Especially if they follow the WGA in going on strike.
So… by having Masoné brag about starring as Les in “Dead St. Lisa: the (not very) moving picture,” is Batiuk saying that “Lisa’s Story” isn’t Lisa’s story at all, but rather Les’s unending whining? Nice of him to admit the snarkers have been right all along.

But they still have to show “The Phantom Empire” at least twice a day every day, right?

I think I see the words “Lisa’s Story” written in that beard.

“This strip may even branch into something that isn’t LISA’S STORY FOR ANOTHER 16 YEARS!” (pause) “Nope.”
