Cul de Sac by Richard Thompson for April 21, 2011
Transcript:
Mom: Petey, why have you got your head on the table now? Petey: Dill's dad is our soccer coach. He'll turn us all into Dill's brothers. The traits displayed by Dill's brothers are innate and genetic. They're unlikely to be replicated outside of Dill's family. You won't soon be building trebuchets in our front yard. Petey: You're sure? Alice: Yeah, you'd never do anything that interesting. Petey: HEY!

If Petey becomes Dill’s brother, Alice will become Dill’s sister…eeek!

Is there a diorama of a trebuchet in Petey’s future?

Alice certainly has a mean streak. Why do I get the impression she’d like to see that?

I think we’ll have to start with getting Petey to just kick the ball…

She’s actually one of the most sensible parents in comic strips these days.

Trebuchet? Is this a comic strip or a Monty Python movie?. In any event I am genuinely in awe.
Henceforth and hereinafter any comic strip using a word that requires me to reach for my OED shall be referred to as “Cul De Sackian.”

I don’t know why Petey looks mad – I thought he would have agreed with her!

In a second he’ll realize that she’s right.
And yeah, I tried to talk straight to my kids like Petey’s Mom does, and they turned out great.

Why is Petey upset? I thought he prided himself on his predictability and boredom! I can’t wait to see how this turns out!

Alice just stating a fact. Always talk straight to your kids, they actually speak your language and need to learn our vocabulary and jargon and visa versa. When they start mixing explosives is when you need to begin the serious safety protocols.

Speaking about genetic traits, how did Alice get so bossy and mean?
vldazzle over 13 years ago
Some friends actually do build them and I have done paintings of them on some scrolls-fun!
