Do you have to be Scandinavian in order to like Marvel Comics’ “Thor”? He and Loki are based on Scandinavian mythology.

Fair to “MIDLAND”?!?! …Guys, the phrase is “Fair to middlin”. Even “middling” would be acceptable. Ask your moms, or anybody over 50. Or Google it. “Midland” makes no sense at all.

MrJimCos is ABSOLUTELY right! I AM somebody’s Mom, so I know! Ha ha, I actually came to read comments in case I was missing something, and the the cartoonist intentionally misused the expression! There is a Midland, Michigan, for example, so I wondered…alas it appears to be an error!

I’ll bet middlin’ wasn’t in his spell checker and he wasn’t paying attention when it corrected itself.

When our daughter was 5 or 6, we were watching TV, the dialog included the word ‘vagina’. My daughter asked us what a ‘vagina’ was, I glanced over at my wife and she had the deer in the headlights look going so I simply responded, “It’s like a VCR”.

French kissing and letters have to do with the country’s more sexually exotic reputation. French fries are actually “frenched,” cut into thin strips.

I admit I am not familiar with the rock band, and I know about the fair cities named Midland scattered about the US, and there are likely many persons with the name “Midland” However I still stand by my opinion that the only sensible response to the question being asked would NOT include a reference to any of them. “Fair to middlin(g)” would be the appropriate response.
