Interesting gadget Tracy has. In the first panel, the clock is at the bottom, in the next two panels, it’s at the top, as it was in the originals, way back when. It looks like it’s about 1:20 a.m.
ummmm…..is the formula still there? You’d think that would be the only motivation to kill her….if THAT was stolen, killing her preserves it’s value….hmmmmm…..“Bribery Time”? He seems to know where the big scores can be found, as we have seen with the space coupe and the gold shipment…
As far as suspects go, how about the old cliche " The butler did it "?The reasons :1. Some have speculated that someone slipped Doubleup a mickey. Who better than the person who normally brings the food ?2. The person who did it would have to have access to the 28th floor and unquestioned access to Perenelle’s room (like the butler. After all, Doubleup would have been suspicious or downright hostile if any one of the other bidders had tried to get into her room).3. Also ( and correct me if I’m wrong about this ), when someone is being strangled, they’d tend to put up a struggle, but there were no signs of a struggle in the room. So, someone may have slipped her a mickey, too ( pointing back to the butler again ).4. Some might also say that, since the butler was bringing her breakfast, this eliminates him as a suspect. It does not ; he could have been setting up an alibi for himself by discovering the body. Who is there to say otherwise, seeing as the only person who could confirm this is dead ?
All-purpose, totally reusable panel 1 is classic. But Tracy’s opinion that Perenelle was strangled is of interest, if he is correct. Finkd may be right in pointing the finger at Ramon, though he would almost certainly have been working for someone else. I suppose the Bid-In Booty might be a motive, but I suspect that there is more to this case than just simple greed….
I think Doubleup’s being fitted for a frame. I wouldn’t be surprised if Perenelle’s body exhibits braided ligature patterns consistent with a whip. If so, Tracy will see past the scheme, eventually.
i don’t believe Double Up is complicit in this murder at all… it’s too obvious… and also, Ramon would be too obvious as well. No, it’s someone else, and I also don’t believe that it’s someone who was involved with the auction either… again, too obvious.
we need to start thinking more ‘covert’ and less ‘overt’… I keep going back to Pouch, he knows something even if he doesn’t realize it. Doubtful that Brush and Kitchen will rat him out, but he got the plans from SOMEWHERE or SOMEONE and my money is on whoever gave him the info… but like Brush and Kitchen… Pouch won’t talk
we’re missing something, and whatever it IS it’s big…
I don’t agree with Bribery being involved.. after all, why waste time with an auction of an immortality formula when you can simply steal it?
interesting thought.. Denny was brought in to ‘safeguard’ the auction but yet ALL his supporting cast is now gone, his involvement has increased at tracy’s behest… yet why stick around? I know that even tho Carrion was arrested and carted off along with Sammy and Dolan, Denny remained behind because the auction was still set to take place.. but something isn’t sitting right… I’m not pinning it on Denny in the least,, but theres something else going on… Dolan’s last words ‘on panel’ are haunting, mainly because he couldn’t have been more wrong.. Flammel is dead via strangulation and the auction is cancelled…WHO would have wanted to prevent Flammel from auctioning off the formula?
I think if we can figure THAT out we may be on the right track.
Back towards the end of January when everyone handed over their $250k, Warbucks asked what they get for the ‘deposit’… Flammel relied by telling him they can ask questions about her formula…Warbucks’ question referred to an ingredient he was wondering if it was included in the formula, and she said yes. His response was that the same ingredient was used by Doc Savage on 1934, and Diet chimed in saying that Warbucks has the inside edge, and Oliver’s reply to Diet was that “(the ingredient) isn’t sold at the corner drugstore Smith.”
Does this mean Ollie had been experimenting with his OWN version of the formula? We all know why Diet would be interested in an Immortality Formula, but what is Warbucks’ angle?
Why do I suspect that the Dragon Lady found out the formula is a fake, and so she either killed Perenelle or had it done? One does NOT scam Lai Choi San and get away with it!
“Strangled last night you say Tracy? Be on the lookout – our research shows that recent strangling activity makes people hold their arm at an odd angle when looking at a device on their wrist.”
Couldn’t be Doubleup any way! The big dope has his heart set on those comic books and why kill the goose that lays the golden eggs? Dragon Lady is my guess because she got her joint out of joint. If it’s not her, then it’s another character. And how do we know there wasn’t a struggle? We don’t.

I still say that Doubleup’s shadow did it and he used the floor plan from Pouch to get into the room unnoticed

Perenelle is really dead fish dead.
Strangulation? And Doubleup heard nothing? Are you telling the truth, Doubleup?

Well, that ends any thoughts of the formula not working….or at least not working for her. Too bad it didn’t also have an invulnerability effect.

Somebody slipped Doubleup something. Remember, he was asleep when the servant found her dead.
Now the question is, who sent her that note, the one that had her thinking she could have use for Doubleup, implying there was a threat.

Hmmmm, I’m thinking it was the Oriental woman. She didn’t look too pleased when Double-Up used his whip to snatch her cigarette holder!

Just my take on the current situation.
