I am sad to learn that the rumours are true. We have lost Vista Bill. It seemed unusual that he hadn’t posted anything since Wednesday and I was afraid something had happened. His final post read “I’m on a mixed schedule these days,” which made me think of doctors’ appointments.
William Raley was truly a gentleman whose postings were enjoyed by many people here. I always looked forward to his daily “Good morning, guys!” greetings.
My condolences and prayers go out to the Raley family and friends.
What a great bunch of folks. I am proud that so many genuinely care about the loss of Vista Bill. It would take news like this to so completely overshadow what Mr. Bribery has done today, a deed most foul.
My grandmother always told me from a young age to respect our elders, to listen to them, and to learn from them, most of all love them. Mr. Raely may not have liked me, but he never disrespected me either privately to me, or in public. Which gained my respect, for I’ve been insulted and even attacked before by others.
I saw Mr. Raely as the soul of the strip, and our elder in which we should respect and admire.
What with VB ‘s passing, not sure if I should post anything. I was going to say something about jogging trails. Here, in Denver, the contest between hikers and bikers is getting intense. As for me, I used to love going up Pike’s Peak. But it’s been pretty much spoiled by all those bikers who like to be driven to the top, only to coast downhill, unable to stop, and driving climbers off the trail! // None of this exonerates Bribery, of course. But my sympathies might have been affected if that were a biker he just threw under the bus!
That said, what a truly stupid thing Bribery has done! Earlier this week, comments were that Bribery was foolish for jogging in public. If he wasn’t high profile then, he sure is now! (Downtown jogging trails around here have cameras on them)
Regarding today’s strip, this seems to leave Lee in a difficult spot. Did she witness this murder & if so, can she just stand by without arresting Bribery now?
The shade is drawn, the night is long, the wolves howl looking for the moon. But the moon has set and there is no threat just darkness for the rest will be soon. The cemetery has a new guest. Make him welcome. He is a friend sit down and jest. Life may be over the eternity is always there, ready for all of us some time anywhere. We lost one what a guy, he will be missed, I feel a tear in my eye. Good night Sweet cow poke we say all that we love about you will not be forgotten by us. A prince of a man was he.
So sorry to hear about this from Gweedo Murray today. R.I.P. Dear Bill. He sent me a picture of his two great grandchildren in his Christmas card. He was very proud of them. We’ll all miss him.
Chillingly cold action from Mr. Bribery today. Could this lead to his downfall? One might hope so.
I posted a notice of the passing of William K. “Vista Bill” Raley here late yesterday. Let me add to it by saying that he was like a Protective Spirit hovering over this page, a true gentleman, one whom I thought of as a real friend though we had not met in person, and who was also a Friend on that social networking site [whose name I choose not to use; it doesn’t need free publicity from me]. His cheery greeting and good-hearted fun will be missed here, but not forgotten. Rest In Peace, Vista Bill!
….just got back in town and to this strip and read the sad news. I have been coming here for many years, and it almost seemed like Vista Bill was the emcee introducing the strip daily to us. You can tell just what a class act he was by the response to his passing; a mountain of comments filled with love, praise, and great memories! R.I.P Vista Bill

Beautiful day in the neighborhood. Bribery takes a run
Loves the risk on a morning brisk. Daring danger makes things fun.
The story goes his little rose is told of all his schemes
Plots bad deeds and plants ill seeds, both awake and in his dreams.
His niece is back from Europe. The school taught her well
“Giggle-snort” is her retort. Her Uncle thinks she’s swell.
Now in the zone he picks up speed, as skinny as a rail
Passes other runners along the crowded jogging trail.
A lady jogger in his way is hip-checked to the street
Bus driver breaks a bit too late, it seems she is dead meat.
What a hubbub this does cause, as Bribery sprints away
To do such harm and cause alarm, this surely makes his day.

The battle has begun
Awareness fading like the setting sun
Must not allow myself to succumb
To the drowsiness that is overwhelming me
“Stay awake!” I plead within
To sleep would be a grievous sin
Shortly Sunday will finally begin
And my Tracy fix will be fed
“What’s This I read?” Understand I don’t
“Surely it’s a mistake or a joke”
The pain is more than a Stooged fingered poke
I didn’t stay up for this
Alas the joke is always on me
A lesson learned and forgotten with glee
Just wait seven days I’ll be here, you’ll see
Smiling or frowning I’ll have to wait and see.

Goodbye and Godspeed, Vista Bill. As for Bribery, I’m pretty sure the jog and pushing that lady is part of the plan he cooked up with Sawtooth.
