Yes, Peter Pitchblende as the “URANIKNIGHT” the radioactive man. When he prowls the streets of Arkham on his glowing-from- the-inside horse it is quite the experience.
Many years ago, someone put a bomb in my grandparent’s mailbox, and it detonated. Thankfully, it was several feet away from their house, and they weren’t near it at the time. They got another one, and put it closer to the house.
It wouldn’t have been that long ago that this Deacon and Miller story would have been a perfect set-up for the Nitrates. Too bad we’ve seen the last of them. Then again, in Tracy Town, one never knows.
Here is “the real Peter Pitchblende” in case folks are wondering who the heck I am:http://www.lumandabnersociety.org/Donnie-Pitchford.htmlI am also planning to buy a Geiger Counter to see just how radioactive I am. I was once active in radio, so I guess I must still be radioactive.
AH! It all makes sense now! Sounds like somebody “put the pinch” on Mike and Joe’s “teenage abduction and hooking them on drugs” storyline and made them change gears.
Holy Toledo, cartoon-viewers! Is Peter Pitchblende even quasi-self-referential to Joe? Deacon and Miller were never my favorites: I preferred Abbott and Costello. —And I don’t even like Abbott and Costello!

Vortex in well past his depth when Pauly throws some hands
On the floor with one good eye. Big Pauly makes demands.
Vortex chuckles through the pain, announces, “Look who’s here”
Pauly turns. His stomach churns. Is that a trace of fear?
Sam and Tracy have arrived. Door yields to Catchem’s axe
Seems Devil had a tale to tell, some anecdotes and facts.
Crutch’s son thought it’d be fun to grab him some revenge
Now his chance a deadly dance. On payback he won’t binge.
Pauly raises up his guns yet has no time to aim
Sam and Tracy shoot him down. Crime stopping is their game.

Good morning™, mob-busters!
Deacon and Miller? Like Abbott and Costello, maybe? Martin and Lewis? It seems they had a lot of variety in their movie output.
Indeed, what does this have to do with Polar Vortex?

How does it involve Polar Vortex, indeed? Now what seemed like an aimless story has taken an intriguing twist. I am interested.

So glad that Sunday’s back
Although there’s certainly a lack
Of anything that’s worth a hoot
Today deserves the boot
It’s definitely a waste of time
It’s value about a dime

Peter Pitchblende? Old comedy duo? Say, am I looking in a mirror? I must be dreaming this. Yes, that must be it. (Tee hee!)

Looks like they set off their own Sunday Minute Mystery within the PV story line…

Re: Crimestoppers – they can do that by looking at your mail.

More references to out of date actors, sounds like it is time for Vitamin Flintheart to enter the stage

My father mentioned Lum and Abner in passing years and years ago. I had forgotten the names!

It looks like this story arc is about to involve another film-related plot. And Polar Vortex looks a lot like Silver Nitrate in that final panel.

This duo looks like a cross between: Martin/Lewis and Abbott/Costello. The guy with the mustache looks a little like Bud Abbot.

For what it’s worth “pitchblende” is a mineral from which uranium is mined.
Night-Gaunt49[Bozo is Boffo] about 6 years ago
Yes, it is called “uraninite” now.

Crimestoppers textbook is AT BEST uneven, but today’s is especially lame.

Who the hell are Deacon and Miller?
BreathlessMahoney77 about 6 years ago
Well, today’s strip should brought the narrative momentum to a screeching halt.
BreathlessMahoney77 about 6 years ago
That should be, “sure brought the narrative…”
