RE: Pepper spray, according to Wiki, it was invented in 1965. Now yesterday, when we saw the can in the one panel. There was a star above the words “pepper spray.” Could this have been a souvenir from the killing? To prove the contract was carried out? Also, like some have suggested, the ‘bereaved’ might be using it to create false tears.
Seems to me he found multiple uses for his anger and “revolutionary” fire. Killing the police is a very risky occupation. Since police go all out to find and kill those who have done so.
Jim Doherty’s two prose stories from the old Plainclothes tribute site are now available here:
http://worldofdt.info/occamsrazor/
I decided to put them up as PDF files, because it was the quickest thing to do, but I apologize that they are not very mobile friendly for those who like to read them on a small screen. I may find a more flexible format for them later.
We definitely have mixed clues as to what time period this story is supposedly set in. Al Capone clones taking over a town near Chicago, mixed in with a former radical, turned cop killer for a “cause.” Next thing we’ll see Tracy use Diet Smith 70’s-80’s tech.
Unless this dude is making head shots all the way, why aren’t the ballistic vests the police are mandated to wear on duty stopping his .22 rounds? My vest would stop anything up to a round from a .45 ACP no problem. Left a heck of a bruise and a broken rib behind, but here I am joking about it.
Okay, this is degenerating into totally “off the hookland”. We allegedly start out in the 30’s, get all tied up in “pepper spray” which wasn’t invented yet, now we have half-assed references to the SLA a 70s phenomenon. So the mystery is Whaaa? Next, Dicko and Pat serve in Desert Storm. Rhett Butler did it. Case closed
Jim’s got a story here that would make awesome copy, if it could be done on this page. I like the use of “honest” language and the shootings are reminiscent of days of Gould. Did you get permission to put Kersten and Hansel in your story ? Morrow would’ve had a field day with that !
If I were one of the DePepsi shop customer witnesses I would be outside at the first sound of gunfire. I feel Jim just put that in for dramatic effect as real people would be streaming out of anyplace where shooting is taking place, much the way they stampeded at the Ohio Who concert years ago.
“‘Unlawful Flight to Avoid Confinement’”
Despite being unfamiliar with a vast amount of law enforcement terminology, lines like this add an authentic air to this cop tale.
“At strategic points within site of the car, "
Did you mean "within sight of the car ? You and fan fic author, Night-Gaunt49, must be cut from the same cloth. ;-) (He uses the word formally where the word “formerly” is indicated.)
“Tracy could see Lizz struggle to a sitting position on the floor of the BMW’s back seat, reaching for her own pistol.”
If I were her I would have that thing in my hand before he approached the car !
Frank was a handsome man. Great story, Weegel ! Thanks for sharing and will get to the longer one in due course. HCK
I notice the writer didn’t mention government offenses of the time, such as COINTELPRO or murdering Black Panther leaders in their beds (and no, I would never ever condone the killing of a law enforcement official).
Now we understand Rev O. Lucian as a demented ideologue. But there are still some questions that I’d like answered about the murder of Officer Hart. Her husband’s part could be made clearer. Anyway, we have a few days for Tracy and his team to track down Rev and end it all in a big shootout….

Good morning™, radical readers!
It seems we have a professional cop killer on the loose. It’s Tracy’s job to figure out who hired him.
I have Jim Doherty’s stories and they will be available on my website shortly for your reading pleasure.

Lucian’s wearing a weird turtleneck sweater. Coloring is off.

I guess Lucian dyed his hair as a disguise. I can believe that.

Good morning™, dead radical friends avenger06. !
What’s his beef or was he just looking for an excuse to unleash carnage and mayhem ?

Reminds me somewhat of the whole Patty Hearst, Symbionese Liberation Army series of events in the 1970s.

Lucian’s lucky he didn’t get caught in the crossfire between the Judean People’s Front and the People’s Front of Judea…

I remember the police shootout with the SLA. Man that was something else. Over 400 cops surrounded that house and pumped thousands of rounds into it.
