WAIT for Dick to get there, Sam ! Boy, will Ty get the shock of his life when the guy he thought he comfortably eluded shows up at his door. Will we get to meet Auntie Bellum at last ?
Classic commune is rural, with everyone contributing his/her work to keeping it going (might or might not include marijuana cultivation). Urban commune is (usually older, large) house where residents work outside the house, but share their wages and share responsibilities around the house. I’m once again struck by fact Sam and Tracy are seemingly either surprised by the fact there is a commune, or expected to know the location of every building in the city.
Comic strip characters live in a strange world. For us, NOW amounts to about 3 seconds. For Tracy and Sam. their now is about 24 hours. I wonder if interstellar Aliens avoid us for being so slow witted?
Whoa! Could this be the location for Aquarius, Cheesecake and Auntie Bellum? I suppose Ty must be into healthy food so he chose to come here rather than a fast food joint. Maybe he too goes for Cheesecake’s cooking.
Now we’re swinging into action. The House on Bedwell Street beds hippies well, it seems—a previously unknown commune. It’s good to see Sam keeping Tracy informed, and even better to see Tracy moving to join Sam and provide at least that much back-up.
The powerful close-ups by Joe the last two days help to intensify the dialogue—they are well planned and well executed artistic vehicles….
Not to be a wet rag, but a sure sign of indolence on strip art creation is repeated facial closeups. Why not a view out of the car window of the scene Sam could see, including the commune his was approaching, people and atmospheric buildings (gas station, for example) and pedestrians along the street? We all know what Tracy and Sam look like….where’s the adventure here? Chester Gould was a master of this type of thing in his heyday. He revealed in an interview something like, “If I want to be a success I must chain myself to the drawing board…” Taking shortcuts does not achieve the intention of graphic story telling – the art must add mystique by stimulating the imagination and fancy of the reader to create sensations of actually being there. Who would rush to the newsstand (or the computer, in this case) to see these two panels? Even the view out Sam’s window is occluded. Instead we see the curls in Sam’s hair!!! One last point – the objects which are in the art are rendered on too large a scale without any details to suggest reality! For example, is Sam’s fist really that large? And the stark colors!!! Argh!! Now, please don’t somebody who needs corrective lenses on their senses say, “Hey this is a comic strip!!” No kidding!!

Is this the place we’ve been seeing since the Sunday (December 6) strip that started the storyline?

Next panel: “Ok… and you might want to think about trimming those nose hairs. Over and out.”

Good morning™, news readers!
Since many people seem to think that Tracy’s city is like Chicago, does Chicago have an “east side”? I seem to remember that it has a south side.

So it appears that GoComics is doing a contract cull with some comics on here.

SAM: Can’t be Tracy. I’m in that neighborhood BAM! help me… now and I don’t see anything like that.
DT: Must be a prank. I’ll call back the ambulances. 10-4.

Sam and Dick rousting a commune! This will be better than a 60’s Dragnet episode! Culture clash!
