Tracy must have done a family members look up otherwise why would Rabbit be on screen ? Not said; but they must know he died of poison and that there was a puncture like what they found on the murdered underworld bigshots.
Tracy: "But, then, it turned out this guy wasn’t really dead, the Feds had just set up a cover for him when he went into witness protection. He’s currently hiding as a chick named “Ferret.”"
Slow day at the Major Crimes Unit. Tracy checks owner of a car involved in minor accident on rain-slick street and then starts to research her family tree. Perhaps he has already realized that no crime in Tracy-ville in years has been solved by police work. Coincidence (and stupidity by the crooks) are the only ways things get accomplished.
Thankfully the city has no murders, gambling, drugs, or large scale criminal gangs to detract him from his research on the minor hit-and-run.
Why exactly would Rabbit have a mug shot if he, as far as they knew, never committed a crime? And if he DID, then they would also have a residential address as well as his name so they would absolutely have had jurisdiction in his murder regardless of where the body was found
1-SAM: I’m sorry I just up and left. I wanted a little privacy while I made a date with Ferret. You know (sniff), I’ve been so lonely lately. You would a noticed if you were a better detective.
2-DT: Well there is something I did notice that you might be interested in…
3-…Ferret used to be a DUDE named Rabbit! Check it out. It doesn’t take a good detective to surmise that you’ll be cancelling that date!
SAM: Wellllll…did I mention I’ve been so lonely lately? Besides – she’s so pretty now. The rest is just a matter of plumbing options.
DT: Yeah. I guess. But I’m sticking to the chicks that don’t have a “faucet”.
“Right, Sam, but they had found evidence he was killed in ours”. And what was that evidence they found? Some city soil on the soles of the deceased? Maybe there was city dirt underneath his finger nails. Hmm…he must have had the menu of an eatery in Tracy land on him.
The physical traits of these two siblings reminds me of Rhodent, and with the flexible Tracyville timeline, could be his children or grandchildren. Rhodent was known to Tracy and Sam as the rat-faced man. The cross-dressing Rhodent dressed as a woman when he went out in public. He avoided detection by wearing a veil over his face.
Could Rhodent be their last names?
Immediately after the following episode (from 1959—only 6 years before Honeymoon Tracy was born—a mere pittance in Tracy time), Rhodent’s car caught fire from sparks on the metal rails as the car was dragged along by the train. The fire got to the gas tank and the car exploded in a fiery blast. Rhodent was burned to death in the explosion but Fatty (the kidnapped girl) was thrown clear. Plenty of storytelling but no talking heads here:
Hold the phone! Stop the presses! Is that fellow in the mug shot wearing bib overalls? He could be a distant cousin of Snuffy Smith or Jethro Bodine or those Darlings off of the Andy Griffith Show. Oh yeah….can’t overlook Lil’ Abner.
Exciting story..a week without leaving the office, what a guest writer, he’ll fit right in. BTW, No way these are Rhodent’s kids, unless there mom was a model. Rhodent was pug-ugly, this group, just homely
Well,it’s a 3-day Holiday so you won’t be hearing from me until Tuesday the 22nd.We shall close with Smoots Amatuma.Gangster from Roaring 20’s Chicago.he even has his own Wikipedia Page.
He was a lieutenant for The Genna Brothers;the guys whosold cheap liquor that made you go blind.
Whenever The Genna Brothers went into one of their homicidal rants(which was often),Amatuma’s function was to calm them down by singing their favorite operaarias.(He was supposed to have a great voice).
There’s something we haven’t seen in 90 years of unusual crooks.
Three panels, three headshots. Sam’s pale blue eyes (panel 1) are just plain disturbing to me. Tracy’s profile looks great in panel 2. And as for the late Rabbit’s mug shot in panel 3, well, the family resemblance to Ferret is unmistakable. Between the two of them, there are not enough brains to go around even for one!

Okay, so they’ve connected the hit-and-run driver to Rabbit, who was killed. That’s a start, I guess.

So the mug shot which is being shown today was a victim who got dumped into the county.

Notice that the city in which Tracy lives and works is never mentioned by name. Even outsiders refer to it as “Tracy’s city.”
