    Good morning™, all!

Dot thinks the nightclub sounds like a great idea, too. Who was speculating yesterday that she might go along with him? That does open up new possibilities with the plot.

Shelley rendering Dot in a very “Shojou” fashion. ✨

Too…Much…YELLOW in today’s strip!!!! Plus, I’m getting sick and tired of seeing Dot and Tonsils nearly every day for the past two weeks. Maybe, instead of Dick Tracy, they should be calling it Dot and Tonsils! But hey, things are looking up. Dot will find out the truth about Matt from Coffyhead, Coffyhead will shoot Matt and Tracy will clean up the mess. This story could be over by the end of the week! And then Mark can come back next week with The Return of Yeti!

Is Shelley drawing Tonsils in two different “worlds”?

The “real” world, like yesterday, where he and others are drawn with more straightened features. And in the second world, like today, a “fantasy” world where both Tonsils and Dot are drawn with rounded features.

I hereby predict that from now on, nobody’s going to acknowledge him not being the actual Tonsils again.

You know Dot, one of the best things about being older is not making the same mistake twice.

I like the Romeo and Juliette paradigm used here. For people new to the strip, it is a different kind of story to read. Mike has written a Deja Vu story for us and so far l like it. Others may not like it. But differing opinions here means healthy debate for everyone involved, especially for Mr. Curtis, who should gage a bit what Dick Tracy fans are saying about his work. Adding a few car chases maybe a good idea, or even a shoot-out. Maybe we should get a glimpse into Dick Tracy’s mind every now and then to see what he thinks about crime, criminals and other things, to make him appear more multi-dimensional for fans and critics alike. A dynamic Tracy, with personality to boot, is something l’d like to see more of in this strip. To a certain extent, already, Curtis has started this process…

In other words, maybe the Dick Tracy comic strip should be slightly more about Tracy (as crime fighter and cop) and less about the criminals he pursues. This might balance out the weekly narratives in terms of storytelling and level of interest and reinvigorate the strip. Many will not like this idea… But that doesn’t concern me. Many cavemen did not like the wheel, either, when it was first invented.

Question – So how can she love him just because he looks like the old Tonsils? Their personalities cannot be the same UNLESS they are really the old Tonsils who survived somehow.

1-ASTRO: HEY! ARE YOU MAKING FUN OF MY FUNNY EYE? DOT: No. Why would EYE do that?

2-ASTRO: OH! YOU’VE MADE BOTH OF YOURS LOOK LIKE MY FUNNY ONE!

3-DOT: Yes! That’s an indication of my instant devotion to you! Now you dye your hair blonde in response.

ASTRO: Yeah, not gonna happen. I mean, you’re ok as far as it goes but I’ve got lots of options now that I’m breaking big. Say, could you drive me to my new club venue? My new Lambo hasn’t arrived yet.

DOT: Of course. Anything for you, ASSHOE !!!

    ASTRO: It’s Astro…oh.

What is amazing is how this story will take on a life of its own. If Matt had introduced Coffyhead to who would take up the slack selling merchandise to him…but happy endings are a thing of the past.

@ Mike and Shelley, when yawl conclude this story take out an ad for readers and art students to submit you new names for villains. “Throwbacks and reboots” are going to get “old” real fast.

This Matt guy is a real charmer…all he has to do is blow in Dot’s ear and she will follow him anywhere. Wonder if her dating him is her idea or the television station’s. One would think they’d frown on this kind of thing. It’s about the ratings…got to give the people what they want.

Where are they in today’s first two panels? Is that supposed to be a dressing room mirror with lights all around it? If so, I’m afraid Shelley got the mirror image wrong. Or, is that a doorway with lights all around it?

You kinda spoiled things in Panel 3 by revealing that Dot actually IS wearing clothes!!

Okay, first question—-how much of the main floor will Coffeyhead’s deathtrap take up?

What I’m thinking about is that Tonsils 2 probably never thought of himself as especially brave—-and we’ll seewhat happens when he finds himself and Dot “in the soup”—-or would that be hot coffee?

At least there isn’t a blizzard raging outside,

Coffyhead has been off-camera for this long because it takes time to build gigantic Rube Goldberg deathtraps.

Anyone else having trouble using an ad blocker on here today? First few comics loaded fine, then it’s like they threw a switch as everything stopped displaying except for the comments. No comics and no thumbnails on My Comics pages and no logos on the A-to-Z page. I had to turn off my ad blocker to get it to load anything. Incredibly frustrating as they still have way too many ads per page. I’m using Firefox btw.

Today Dick visits Gasoline Alley to chat with the mayor: https://www.gocomics.com/gasolinealley/2022/04/11

Notice that aside from Dick, the appointments are for a parody of Chester Gould, and the editor of Dick Tracy #1.
