Meanwhile, back on Gweedo’s farm, the goats wish Gweedo would find another line of work he could pursue!

Now Tracy and Sam know what it feels like to be shuffled from department to department. How many stops before they end back up with O.C.D. ?

Good point. Knowing something about rare books (or a niche field within the subject of rare books) doesn’t mean you know squat about medieval manuscripts. The police, of course, being clueless in both areas don’t know the difference. Glad this was said in a strip.

And it might also explain my surprise yesterday when Tracy was asking Sam what to do, instead of Sam asking Tracy “What do we do next?” And so we were shown Sam suggesting they talk to a guy whose hobby is rare books on railroads when they want answers on medieval mss. At least Desmond has a suggestion for them…

Of course next expert may not know much either, but can refer them to another expert. Who will refer them to another expert – who will turn out to be the crook!

Aside from introducing a LOT of Red Herrings and spinning a long, non action oriented story, the past couple weeks could have been an email

it’s easier to acquire a medieval manuscript than you think. I have several friends that own one, and they were bought at around a $100-300 price mark.

Now it’s a railroad story?

OY: Really stressed with the audio edit on the pending audio book, and not feeling well on top of that. Watching THEY STOOGE TO CONGA. The Three Stooges always make me happy.

Pretty swank office for someone who says he can only afford railroad books on his salary! But O.C.D. does have “a line” for Tracy and Sam (panel 2). The hunt will continue!

Great “peek over the shoulder” renderings of Tracy and Sam in panel 1. Shelley is in a way like Orson Welles was, constantly seeking out new camera angles and focal lengths.

And, may I add that in contrast to some of our commenters, both regular and occasional ones, I like this story, its pace, and its emphasis on detective work. It seems to have greater substance, more like a good detective novel, less like a “car chase and shoot-out” 42 minute (editorial run time; the rest of the hour is commercials) TV cop show…..

“Medieval books are way out of my line. Railroad books are all I can afford on my salary”. Reminds me of the person who needed the services of a landscaper but ended up settling for one that hung sheet rock.

A whole lot of good a line is going to do for Tracy and Sam. They need a contact person.
