Those women will eat themselves into a stupor under ANY circumstances. As for the guys, I agree with 2old. Heaven forefend those lazy yobbos should do something for themselves that they can make the women do FOR them. The sad thing is that I know blokes like that, and their wives let them get away with that sort of rubbish!
Je mange, donc je suis—Joi.If those guys want any lunch at all they better get into the kitchen ’cause the girls are just a whole bundle of emotions right now. Result: no food left and a carving knife flying their way.
I hate to say it, but while he would NEVER have asked in such a rude way as Burl, my father was of a generation and culture that expected that sort of servitude.
He expected the table to be already set when he got home from work, and dinner on it within about ten minutes.
I grew up thinking all men said things like “Honey, I’m a little hungry, How about a sandwich?” right in the middle of Gunsmoke.
Don’t get me wrong…. there’s nothing wrong with anybody saying “Can I get you a sandwich?” to another person.
It’s enjoyable to do things for someone who returns the favor in some way…. but it’s Burl’s do-NOTHING attitude and that feigned helplessness that make me sputter.
Well, I was happy to serve my husband and have his dinner ready and chilled glasses in the freezer for a cocktail, BUT like Burl, he went too far – never so much as getting up to fetch himself a glass of water when we were seated together on a couch (even when I was 7-8 months preggers and they were all well over 8# ). That was not the reason I divorced him but a consideration
this is the exact reason Crispy Creme stays in business, and don’t tell me they are good, I cant eat them (thank goodness). But the name alone conjours up fried grease!

Burl is the breadwinner. If he want to bellow for a sandwich then that is his prerogative.
