Roland: Good evening. Today "Operation Manhood" went into high gear as Senators Church, Jackson and Baker formally opened their special linkage hearings. Waving a parchment copy of the Monroe Doctrine above his head, Jackson demanded that the President face down the Soviets "eyeball to eyeball, like a real man." In another development, the Senators also pledged to investigate new evidence linking Russian saboteurs with the sinking of the "Maine."
