University President: To what do I owe the pleasure, Dean Rumplemeyer? Dean Rumplemeyer: Sir, it's about the remedial courses...the kids who have to take them feel stigmatized. The remedial label makes them feel bad about themselves...I was wondering if we could re-name them "introductory" courses. Remedial English, for example, would become English 101. And English 101 then becomes 201, and so forth. University President: You mean, course inflation? Dean: You make it sound ugly, sir. These kids are in pain!
