Duke: You know, folks, there's been a lot of reckless chatter about how BP's spill has left the local crustaceans inedible! But if there were anything nasty about gulf shrimp, would I do this? Mmm! Now that's just good eatin'! So relax, America, your shrimp supply is good to go! Zonker: And tonight's special is fresh Louisiana blackened shrimp! Man: Blackened? Woman: Let's go, honey!
I’m reminded of a PSA Pat Paulsen (previously a regular on the Smothers Brothers show) did in the early 70s, where he played a fisherman standing in a stream, expressing his skepticism over the seriousness of water pollution. Even as he speaks, dead fish are floating past him, and he picks up one and says that it’s perfectly safe and fit for human consumption, adding “It might smell a little funny, but I’m sure that’ll cook out of it.”
