The “for profit” college model is the darling of conservatives. Don’t confuse corporatism (what we have now) with capitalism (ie a free market free of gub’ment control). Corporation exist because of and for the government. Corporations also benefit from government protections. For example, BP – the person or people responsible for the spill in the gulf will never be held liable because corporate charters, granted by the gub’ment, protect the individual. There are no corporations in a free market. Their may be partnerships, but individuals, not pieces of paper, are in charge and therefore individuals can be held responsible and liable. Profits, in a free market, are earned by providing good products and services, not by gub’ment subsidies and price controls.

Is this one of those artisnal quirks where the usually clueless character acts smart?

We’ll see if this is a good idea. Probably not. There are so many variables, that work against the student, in this question of student loans and grants. Some of which include unsupportive spouses, family emergencies and y’all can think of many more. I know most of y’all have focused on the benefits to the corporations versus the lack of benefits for the students. Add my list to what you already have and you can see the disaster that’s occurring. Just another credit nightmare for the country.

I have been thinking about Zipper’s status as a professional and legacy student. Wouldn’t it be ironic if Waldon actually gives him a job as a tenured student ? He could offer on-line advice to the unsuspecting telecommuting students, as he did for the campus newbies.Waldon could name him Professional Student Emeritus !
