Leo is a good man. Not a phony bone in his body. May he long be on Doonesbury.

And I’d laugh my head off when he did it, Clark.

Front running phony meets the real deal. I thought the same thing the first time around.

Although reruns, this week’s strips take on a new meaning given the honking amount of cash Jeff was given last week. It seems that Americans prefer to read about fake heroes than the real deal.

Once the stereotype of the American soldier was that he was Mr. Average. Now the stereotype is that ever soldier is at least six feet tall, and must weigh at least 250 pounds, all muscle. I’m not sure when this happened.

reruns til Labor day? oh my. if they had a draft the Elites couldn’t have as many wars as we do. the draft will never happen. Congress is owned by the Military Industrial Congressional Complex. Nice thought though.

She could be talking about the trolls. Keep up the good work people, here during Do Not Feed the Trolls month. You make me proud.

The draft should be reinstated for any number of reasons. We might not be so quick to get involved in other people’s affairs if everyone’s daughters and sons lives were at risk.
kaffekup over 11 years ago
Don’t worry, Beleck, if they did reinstate the draft (no chance), the elites would make sure their kids didn’t go – see the Civil War, Vietnam, Bush Jr.

Jeff thought Leo would be “bigger and more ripped” because that is exactly how Alex described Leo.

I’m sorry you hate the Constitution and the United States, “Sarge”, as indicated by your continually referring to the President as the “Usurper” when we all know your god Bush was the Usurper..It’s interesting that you always say you are “typing the truth”. That says to me that you know you are not “telling” the truth but just putting the same lies out by rote..Perhaps when you have had enough of Teabag Kool-Aid you will see the light.

“It seems that Americans prefer to read about fake heroes than the real deal.”Sure. George W. Bush and his gang, draft dodgers all (with the exception of Colin Powell) portrayed themselves as war heroes and the American public lapped it up. Ronald Reagan and John Wayne, among lotsa others, dodged WWII and still passed themselves off as tough guys. Appearance matters; facts do not.

“I’m rubber, you’re glue; what you say bounces off me and sticks to you.”That’s exactly the response I expected. Not even up to stupid. Just boring. That’s why I never read any of your posts unless they’re addressed to me, and then I just skim them.

It just occurred to me, that in all the years that I have posted to republicans that they worship bush, not ONE has ever been able to make himself say that, no, he doesn’t worship bush, he worships God; today is no exception. They are all, every one, idolaters.

“Barry Soetoro is a Usurper as he is Constitutionally barred from being President.”-News flash: Hawaii is part of the United States of America. ergo, President Obama is NOT constitutionally barred from being president.

I have enjoyed Breaking Bad, after seeing GT’s recommendation. I am also enjoying Alpha House, written by Trudeau and starring Bill Murray and John Goodman available free at Amazon. GT fans may as well check it out! Very funny stuff!

I certainly worship no man, only God. He’s the One who requires I tell the truth.

Anyone born on U.S. soil is a “natural born” citizen. Guard, One guy claiming George Bush “wanted to go to Vietnam” is not proof that he did. Since you claim to have been in the military, then you would know there would be a request in Bush’s military records if it had actually been made. I have yet to see this proof. It is a fact that George Bush’s grandfather pulled strings to get him into the National Guard which had a year and a half waiting list at the time, despite Bush’s low test score. From everything I have read about his military career, nothing indicates he had any desire to go to Vietnam (I can’t blame him on that one) If he really wanted to go, he would have volunteered like my dad did.

SC,I hope you understand that the problem many of us have with Sarge is not his political philosophy, it is his mentality.
Newshound41 over 11 years ago
I actually have to plead guilty to calling Sarge names. Now let me ask you a question, have you ever criticized or called out any of the conservative posters for the name calling they engage in?

One more thing, read my posts and please point out when or where was I backed into a corner.

This is the wording in question: “it was never doubted that all children born in a country of parents who were its citizens became themselves, upon their birth, citizens also. These were natives, or natural-born citizens, as distinguished from aliens or foreigners.”
It does not say that ONLY those born of two citizen parents are natural born citizens, and in fact, it looks more like it equates “natives” with “natural-born citizens.”
Years later, in the Wong Kim Ark decision, the justices did not actually define the term, but they speculated on the intent of the authors of the constitution, by appealing to English common law, which would have been the background of any lawyer in colonial America. They concluded that common law would make a native of England a natural-born subject, and that the same plain-language meaning would apply to a natural-born citizen of the US. Had they believed that only those with both parents being citizens were natural-born citizens, they would have said so.
If you would rather hear it from legal scholars than from an engineer, look up Tisdale v. Obama to get it from a Federal District Court judge, or Black’s Law Dictionary, or the Congressional Research Service report:

Given my choice between flying fighters around Texas and doing anything on the ground in Vietnam, I would pick the fighters in a heartbeat.
Newshound41 over 11 years ago
How is that being backed into a corner? Sgt. said:Since Barry’s father was a British Subject, Barry was never Natural Born.Think of the wording. Not, “was never a natural born citizen” but “never Natural Born (sic).”If you don’t see the humor in that, I apologize.I wasn’t dodging anything. The comment I was referring to wasn’t even directed at me. -As for moral equivalency, I’ll take MLK, Harry Truman, George C Marshall – and I say this very proudly – Barack Obama over anybody you have on your side.

I choose Jesus Christ.
And indeed I do as well. So, I see two sides to this fight. I see both sides taking away our liberties, our way of life, our right to worship, our right to the security of our own homes and perhaps the right to express ourselves as we see fit. J. Edgar Hoover would have done all these things in a heartbeat. President Obama and AG Holder are right there with J. Edgar. The GOP couldn’t careless about the middle and lower classes.
Jesus’ last and greatest commandment was for all of us, saint and sinner alike, to love one another as He has loved us. That means for us to take care of one another and lift up the ones who cannot lift themselves up.
I have had “Christians” tell me that it’s wrong to take away a wealthy man’s money at the point of a gun. Well that is not what real Christians want, IMHO. I’ve listened to so much drivel from the right and self-righteous BS from the left that I am sick. We will never get over our differences unless we allow ourselves to face them one by one. And both major parties in the US are guilty as sin of keeping us divided.
kaffekup over 11 years ago
“You admit there are legitimate sides. We chose one each in turn. I choose Jesus Christ.”.Didn’t he say something on the order of “Before you criticize the mote in someone’s eye, look at the beam in your own.”?So it’s OK if your side calls names endlessly, but liberals dare not?.OK, you take Jesus, I’ll take God.
