I think Joanie’s husband was Clint— and he really didn’t miss Joanie after she absconded with Mike and Mark (on a BMW, a point my late brother used to make). I also seem to recall that JJ was impressed with Mike being on a motorcycle road trip, even if it was in a sidecar.

Yeah, Mike left half an hour ago.

“Self-involved and grandiose” I imagine this is the only time we’ll see JJ saying something truthful about herself.

She doesn’t mean it. Mike knows it’s another of her performances.

I used to swear that my late unlamented Ex-#1 was the model for JJ’s character. Self-absorbed, grandiose, and caring for nothing but her own needs summed up my ex perfectly.

In real life, there are people that get crazier as they get older. I know a few of them. I think she’s that kind of person.

Depressing. Just thoroughly depressing. As has been pointed out, she may have visitation rights. The betrayal, though, has pretty much destroyed Mike and JJ’s relationship.

Maybe she wanted to be like Tom Sawyer and attend her own funeral.

I hope that the absence of Mike in the last frame means that he left the room!

Always remember that you’re unique, just like everybody else.

Remember, once J.J. is out of the picture, he meets Kim. Even Zeke thought Kim was a real babe. Mike is OK

She needed better counseling after her mom ran off to his college hippy commune.

Being unique is not necessarily good in itself.

while JJ is pretty bad in these strips, remember that her mother (Joanie) disappeared without a word when she was a young child. She came in search of her mother years later, and met Mike through her. She’s probably 8-10 years younger than Mike.

Doing what makes Mike get a divorce.

Yeah she’s special all right.

What makes her Unique and Special is the Depths of her Narcissism.

To be fair and honest, JJ didn’t have a good family life either. She had an abusive father and a mother that demonstrated unfaithfulness and left the family as well.

If she keep looking out the window, she just might see him driving away.
