Don’t politicians and attorneys get pensions when they retire?

I’m old enough to remember when interest rates on savings was 7.5%. Ah, the good old days!

It’s gonna get worse with this new administration, Joanie. You and Rick better tighten your belts!

Strap in boys and girls. Factories are already laying workers off in anticipation of the sh** show coming.

Is it my imagination, or is Joanie actually being drawn older and heavier now than she used to be. I don’t know if I would say the same about Rick, for whatever light that sheds on my gender biases.

So much food crosses the North American borders, I hope South America [like Chile which sends a lot of produce during our winter] will be exempt from the tariffs.

Funny, the economy is going tank over and over multiple times past this point in history, none of these boom booms are going to be at the center of anything past the great recession, unless of course they’re in TV news or media or politics all of which seem to operate in some respects as if mid to late 20th century ideas & ideals still apply. Oh well, they’ll all have a future posting constantly online as the Facebook Grandmas they’re destined to become I guess. Real reporting jobs are nearly a thing of the past at this point. Of course having the attention span for anything of this length is also pretty rare ! Happy Thanksgiving Folks !

With the demise of print as a news source being imminent, this strip is poignant …

I worked for a newspaper. The reporters made way more than I did.

That is the thing about the stock market. It requires patience and steady nerves.

Since this strip appears to be from 2002, Joanie must be talking about the Dot-Com Bubble and subsequent bust. We were lucky, took a bunch out for the down payment on a house just in time.
