This illustrates the whole issue of “likes” but not “dislikes.”
Did he get no likes because
A) No-one even saw it or
B) 1,000,000,000 people saw it and they all hated it?
Having a “like” and a “dislike”, you can tell if there’s 4 likes and no dislikes, then apparently it wasn’t seen by all that many people but of those who did see it, the ones that had expressed an opinion had a favorable one (not everyone will rate everything but only four ratings means the total viewers was probably only in the tens or hundreds at most.) But if there’s 4 likes and 4,000 dislikes, then you know it was seen by a lot of people (probably in the tens or hundreds of thousands) and they generally had a poor opinion of it.
And then one that you don’t think is particularly good will get an amazing number of likes. Actually, I think unpredictability is mostly a good thing… ☺
Ralph should have told us what he wrote so we could judge it. Instead, he just wants us to feel sorry for him, when we have no idea if he is funny or not!
I think some people go overboard and click like to just about everything (especially if it’s a reply to one of their own posts). I only click like if something really stands out to me.

Just because you think it’s hilarious doesn’t mean it is.

I have made comments that I thought were somewhat inspired, and had no reply
I’ve also been surprised by comments that I didn’t think were near so great getting bunches of likes and replies
We internet folks be a fickle bunch

And why should you be able to click like on your own post? Seems redundant.

Not everyone has to like you, or your comments.

“Hilarious,” is, for the most part, interpretive.
