I believe Confucius said (in Chinese), “Act with kindness but do not expect gratitude”. It’s not a transaction.

Another applicable saying for this: “Don’t look a gift horse in the mouth.”

I’m old and I would appreciate a box like that. :-)

Those of us who are losing our youthfulness in the physical sense can relate. Some days are just awfully shocking.
